The light would be okay but the plastic mounting bracket is easy to break. I wouldn't recommend this for mountain biking at all. I broke mine off once - the brittle plastic between the handlebars and the light just shattered.
Sigma definitely need to use stronger materials.
Plusses: I am very surprised at how much light these little guys throw. They appear to be very well made - surprisingly solid and heavy for as small as they are. Battery life appears good - I have a 45 minute commute and have never run out of power. I charged the second battery a year or so ago and never used it. When I plugged it into the charger a week ago, the "charging" light never came on because it still had a 100% charge! The mounts are very well made - doesn't seem like something that, if you take the lights on an off a bunch of times, they will get sloppy and even though the lights are easily adjustable, they STAY where they're pointed.
Minuses: I'd prefer to have the battery "pigtail" much shorter - I have the wire from the battery to the light zip-tied to my cables for neatness (and safety). If the pigtail were shorter, I could just take the battery out of the nifty quick release holder and charge it, but since the cable is zip-tied in, I can't just swap in my second battery and when I want to charge the unit, I have to move the whole bike near an outlet. A shorter pigtail would also mean that you could mount the battery on the stem, right next to the light and not have two feet of cord to wad up and tie off somewhere. The small button is a bit of a PITA to operate with gloves on. The helmet mount is EXTRA???? Fifty ^$@# dollars for a Y cord????
Bottom line: lots of light, well made, but the accessory prices are STUPID.
