I started in on this with Kayla at 8 months. She looked at me like I was nuts for about 6 weeks. And like most kids, she signed for more, food and milk at about 6 wks. after I first introduced signs to her. I really liked the pull-out chart, but the video left me pretty cold. Boring. The book is alright, but for the price, it should be tabbed with the most common signs you use, for quick reference. I, like a lot of other reviewers, agree it is overpriced. I would expect to pay less for a product like this. It is a shame to be taken advantage of, especially being a new parent and having lots of extras to purchase upon starting your family. Overall, this is a good product, but, a lower price would have me giving this 4 stars, instead of 3.*
*For a price of under $20, I give this 5 Stars.

Sign with Your Baby Complete Learning Kit will enable you to communicate at new levels with your baby long before she can speak. This comprehensive package of book, video, and reference guide shows how simple gestures can communicate ideas like "I'm hungry" or "help me." Caregivers grasp baby's needs immediately rather than learn through trial and error. Dr. Joseph Garcia has designed the system so it's not necessary to learn an entire new language, although it also provides a terrific start in American Sign Language for a hearing-impaired child. A fascinating introduction delves into the development of language in children and uses informative line drawings to demonstrate over 150 hand signs for all kinds of actions and nouns. The accompanying video provides practical tips for getting started, some insight into the hows and whys of this method from Dr. Burton White (director of the Center for Parent Education), and inspiring sights of young babies signing effectively with their caregivers. The laminated quick-reference guide lists some of the most common words in any parent's day: cookie, no, and up are but a few. Garcia's clear, concise methods make learning a breeze, and caregivers gain outstanding new abilities to give the best possible care for the babies entrusted to them. --Jill Lightner

Parents looking for a new way to communicate and bond with their older infant and/or toddler now have one-this video, book and chart that teach elementary signing. Eye contact, interaction and language development all get a boost from the kit, which is aimed at ages 7 months to 3 years. Plus, with a few of the simple signs in hand, the little ones can actually help mom and dad figure out what they need. (Eat? Up? More?) Parents who stick with it may also see a broader social advantage: bridging that communication barrier between deaf and hearing people of all ages. A 1999 Parents' Choice® Recommendation. Fantastic book, with useful tips and tricks, it really helped to be able to communicate, and within no time, our boy had over 80 words of sign language that really made our lives a lot easier. I could not recommend this book any higher!
Being able to tell that he had to go to the bathroom, before he could speak was worth the cost of the book alone......

This is ancient. Do not purchase. I don't even know anyone who owns a VHS player, nor that subscribes to this mantra of learning. Total rip-off!

I had a little trouble staying awake through the video because the dialogue is slow and repetitive, but I actually think that this process made me understand the principles better. You could get away with learning the signs from just the book, but I think the video forced me to see the bigger picture of the usefulness of signing, and the kids on the video were darn cute! I started showing signs to my daughter at 10 months, and sure enough, one month later, she was signing "eat," "more," and "all done." It is such a JOY to see her signing that she wants to eat!

I used this system with my now 21 month old. It made parenting from 12-18 months a breeze. It is worth the effort to see your child communicate. My son signed complete sentences, like "Where are my shoes?" at 13 months. It has not delayed his speech - in fact he is well ahead for his age. Watch the video twice through and you will learn all the basic signs. Use the book as a reference guide. I plan to teach my next child signing too!

I was SO embarrassed and shocked when I gave my brother & sister in-law this set and found out the "video" is a VHS tape and NOT a DVD!! They were so excited - too bad they will be learning to sign without the video. :(

My son was getting increasingly frustrated with us at 12 months. He would grit his teeth, tense up his arms, and scream at us when we didn't understand what he wanted or what we did to frustrate him.
We started using the signs in this book and his frustration went away. He really only signs "more" back to us, but somehow he realizes we are communicating on a deeper level.
This has been a lifesaver for us.

MORE APPLE GIVE ME BOOK などなど言葉と一緒にでてきます。
このビデオをきっかけに子供も目覚めたようです。英語ですが、高校生程度の英語が分かるなら ママもきっと理解できると思います。
