Also, as said in another review, the "command" strips with the blue tabs to pull off the new battery are useless. The tabs broke off and you have to pry the battery off of the plastic piece it comes on. The other side has the adhesive on it for adhering into your computer and it was totally worthless as well. It was not sticky AT ALL. I put my battery in and did not use any adhesive...once you put the speakers back in it kind of holds the battery in place and now it'll be quicker to replace if needed since it won't be adhered.
This is where the problem occurred. The new connector has a metal prong extruding from underneath. This was not noticed by me. I looked at the old connector and saw a clean connection. I did not examine the new battery connector at the end of the ribbon cable. Pressing down the connector was not initially lined up properly and the battery was punctured by this metal protrusion.. Smoke emanated from the battery at once. I turned the connector around and noticed the protruding metal flange. Was this metal flange designed to make it easier to plug in the connector? I don't know. What I do know is that the battery was dead after this incident. I turned the laptop around and started it up. The laptop would not start unless plugged in. The new battery would not charge. The laptop OS stated the battery needed to be replaced. I threw out the defective battery and replaced it with the original.
I do not anticipate a refund for, is this problem partially my fault for not noticing this metal flange along the side of the connector? Will not buy from this supplier - do not recommend at all.
Soon after installation, I noticed that my MacBook Pro 13" Retina laptop wasn't holding its charge for quite so long. A little over a year later and the battery isn't giving me any stored power whatsoever nor is it charging. The question remains whether I can find an alternative battery that will work or whether I'll have to buy another of these to keep my trusty laptop going.
