So now I just got it back after taking it to an "authorized" service center 1.5 hrs away and after a new pump the same oil is leaking everywhere. I am not sure what amazon can do for me but look elsewhere.
a) Pump oil was low - had to add oil to the middle of the bubble in the pump window. Oil is definitely necessary to keep the pump working
b) Engine would not start because the air filter was so soaked in oil, it choked out the engine -- I washed the paper filter and foam filter cover with Purple Power (bought on Amazon), let it dry and now the engine runs fine with the filters in place.
c) The two pressure relief brass fittings on the pump were leaking. I just tightened them a bit (be careful as you can crack the aluminum pump body if you over tighten)
Read the directions carefully before using the pressure washer:
a) I prime the pump before using -- I let the water run until all the air is out of the hose. If you don't you will burn out the pump. The AAA pump instructions suggests a 30 second prime... but my longer hoses take... well, longer.
b) When done, I take the pump hose off and inject "pump saver" after I'm done to protect the inside of the pump. You screw it on the inlet hose side, spray until it comes out the hi pressure hose side. I bought the pump saver at a big box hardware store, but you can order on Amazon if you want. My last pump rusted shut and I don't want that to happen again.
c) I changed the engine and pump oil after 10 hours -- I'm careful about breaking in my equipment right. There was a lot of 'break in' metal in both oils.
Be careful -- I use 15w-50 in the pump which I use in my tractor and zero turn mower transmissions. I get the oil at a big box autoparts store and have to ask at the desk because they stock it in back. I DO NOT use the normal 30 weight "pump oil" sold at big box hardware stores because the AAA pump on this unit will burn out.
I used Briggs and Stratton 30w small, air cooled engine oil. Again, I don't use normal 30w automobile engine oil as it doesn't have the right additives for an air cooled engine.
Hope this all helps.
The product came with a defective wand - it had a lengthwise crack in the wand.
I have contacted manufacturer for a replacement but bought another as well since i need to use it right away.
I've used it twice and each time works well initially then it refuses to spray and the overflow is going after 15 minutes!!
I suppose the pump could be defective as well.
I chose this for the reliability of the Honda engine, but should have considered the pump and integrator as well.
