Product Description

From the Manufacturer

    Dream Pinball

The game principle is classically simple: keep the ball in play as long as you can and score as many points as possible! That's just like the real-life pinball machines you know.

The developers of Dream Pinball 3D have done their utmost to create a flipper simulation that provides a genuine, live pinball atmosphere and feeling - but there are two decisive differences between this game and mechanical flipper machines:

First off, our 6 machines take up a lot less space and, secondly, as a gamer you can flip those balls on your PC day and night - this pinball hall never closes! So in time you'll learn the ins and outs of our pinball machines much better and faster than you would do in a game arcade or hall.

    • Balls made out of 6 materials (steel, two kinds of wood, marble, ivory, gold) with various ballistic characteristics
    • Multi-ball with up to 3 balls at once
    • 6 tables with various themes, individual sounds and music for each table
    • Multiplayer mode for up to 4 gamers
    • 6 dynamic and one fixed camera position

I was browsing through the Amazon game downloads page and came across this game. It reminded me of an ancient pinball game that I used to play on Windows 97 back in the days. That game used to be my study-break. So, I thought: why not try this 3D pinball game, and enjoy the nostalgia from the past, while cooling down my brains from studying phospholipid bilayers?
Also, it was on sale: four bucks. How can things go wrong for four bucks?

.... Well, I lost all my four bucks.

After I installed the game, I was asked to enter the serial code, which I did. After that, it told me I had to activate the game via internet or phone. Although I am not a fan of any game activation, I understand the reason behind it, so I activated it. Like all other games, I did not have to register to play, so I didn't.

So, I played a few games.
Well, as far as gameplay goes, it's all that you can expect from a pinball game. It has good physics, I like the graphics, and obviously no storyline. To be fair, I was pleasantly impressed with the overall gaming experience.

I came back later to play this game, and to my surprise, it asked me to enter the serial code AGAIN! It was just like I have never played it before. Well, I entered it, and activated it once again. The problem was that I had to repeat the process all over everytime I launched the game. Was my computer weird? Well, I uninstalled it and reinstalled a couple of times. The result? The same. In the end, I just deleted the program and files completely and never looked at it again.

It's up to your choice, I guess. But I don't want to play a game that asks me to enter the serial code & activate everytime I wish to play. Of all, a pinball game? HELL, NO.

I thought this game was very amazing, especially for $2.99! I have Windows 8 and it has not had any problems with having to re-register or problems running smoothly. Like someone else said, you get an email as soon as you buy it taking you to the code or even easier just click on "your software library" in amazon and it will always be there. This game has 5 tables and each one is very fun. It definitely has a more old school pinball feel and you can hear people chattering in the background as you come up to it, giving that true arcade feel. The music is also very good in this game and find the songs change enough so that the music doesn't annoy me at all like some pinball games in the past. I actually find the songs to be rather pleasant and a welcome addition!
If you are looking for another game there is one called Pinball FX2 that is available for free from Microsoft for windows 8. I am not sure if you can get it for other windows systems but it is actually very fun too. Additional tables do cost $2.99 a piece which is the downside, but there are tons of them and it is a very fun game. It has a little more futuristic style to it with tables that have moving trees and ghosts that appear and things like that, but it stays true enough to classic pinball for me to still enjoy it. Hope this helps as I know it is hard to find good pinball games these days that are modern!

The current version on Amazon was a snap to setup, easy.

The game looks and functions like a highgrade real arcade machine, not like a computer computer video pinball game. This is good or bad depending on whether you are a traditionalist who loves hardware gaming or digital freak in love with software. Traditional pinball is not as complicated, you don't have to study the features like an algebra final to play it.

After download Amazon stores your Activation Code here : Your Account, Your Games and Software Library.

But just to make sure you know this, Amazon sends an email right after download with a link to there.

Enter that AC when booting up the game.
The game then requires registration by phone, by email, or automatically over the internet.
I had an internet connection on the computer where the game installed, so I clicked to register on the internet, and it was all automatic, takes a few seconds. Here you receive a Registration Code. Copy it of the screen and write it down, although you won't need it now. But maybe later for reinstallation.

But registration requires you to give name, email, mailing address, phone numbers. It is up to you to use real or phony data. If you use phony data (to protect your ID and avoid spam in your physical mailbox and on your phone), write that down too in case you need tech help later, because who knows they might ask.

I keep all passwords and codes written down in one large textfile using TrueCrypt an internet password file utility which allows you to write all passwords into an encryped textfile which you hide somewhere in your computer's folder system. Only you know where. Not hackable except by a real expert willing to spend hours and hours to find it and then decrypt it.

For the price it's decent, but the control isn't smooth or specific enough. The camera view is far too jumpy when in motion and it's very difficult to pinpoint a specific point on the paddles to know when to flip them in order to get the ball to go where you want it to go.
