Product description

Color:Black  |  Style:Legs Only

Using a "Tri-Titanium" alloy compromised of aluminum, magnesium, and titanium, the Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs has a strength-to-weight ratio 40% greater than comparable tripods in its class.  It is a very professional unit whether you're concerned with strength, fit and finish, or refinement of operation.  The rapid-type center column cannot rotate accidentally, and the lever locks work securely with a minimum of movement.  The 700DX has foam-padded upper segments to ease carrying on your shoulder and working in the cold, and its simple angled rubber feet give a firm footing on a wide variety of surfaces.

  • A professional's leg set with 30.2mm maximum diameter upper segments
  • Dual alignment grooves on all leg segments eliminate leg twist and increase strength
  • Individual 3-position leg angle locks for low angle work or use on uneven terrain
  • Rubber feet for maximum traction on a variety of surfaces
  • Working height of 70.1" puts camera's viewfinder at or above eye level for most users
  • Two-part center column allows lower minimum operating height

5.0 out of 5 stars Review for the SLIK Pro 780DX
By Richard S. on September 11, 2017
SLIK Pro 780DX model is solid with enough features to keep me happy (I was a pro wedding photographer for 15 years). You can see by the photos the various features, and it's various positions not fully shown in the Amazon page. BTW, the bag can hold the tripod without removing the handles. Just a few more points: all the upper legs have a foam covering the will keep your hands warm if working in freezing environments; the legs can be angled until the tripod is almost flat to the ground (you need to read the instructions as to how to do this); the leg locks are NOT metal (several buyers who responded to my inquiring about this said they were metal... really, folks, you need to take a closer look or don't bother responding at all !) but the locks appear to be sufficiently solid.

5.0 out of 5 stars My one photographic constant
By Arun on May 14, 2017
I've owned this tripod for about six years now. In that time, I have moved from a 450D to a 5D Mark IV, from a kit lens to fast zooms and faster primes. I never once felt the need to upgrade my tripod.

This thing is solidly built. The clamps holding the extending legs in place are very easy to use. What is extremely convenient is that I can extend one set fully, then use the center column to raise my camera to eye height for shooting. It is also extremely stable. A couple years ago, I took some early morning shots at Bryce Canyon. It was extremely windy at the time, but this thing held my camera solidly in place and I got very sharp shots. I have also accidentally knocked this when shooting and it is stable enough to where your kit won't easily tip over; it saved several thousand dollars worth of camera equipment from falling into Reflection Lake on account of my clumsiness when I was taking a morning photograph of Mount Rainier. The quick release plate is very securely held and won't move unless you want it to. It easily holds my 5D Mark IV and 70-200mm f/2.8 in portrait orientation. A quick release bushing will keep things in place if you accidentally forget to lock the release plate using the locking lever. Although I've never tried it, the center column can be reversed if you want to photograph with the camera close to ground level. The panhead has two bubble levels to help with alignment.

I've found this tripod to be very portable. I've taken this with me to a good number of National Parks in the US, to Canada, England, and India. Whether I have driven, taken this tripod as a carry on, checked it in, or couriered it to my destination, it has happily taken these abuses. It has also lived in the trunk or floor of my car for months and been knocked around a good bit. And the only signs it shows of all these various adventures and scuffles are some paint scuffs on the pan head. There is not a single tear in the foam grip, and the manufacturer logo painted on to the foam is still legible.

Recently, I had occasion to contact Slik's customer service by email for two issues - I needed help installing a ball head, and the locking plate was finally beginning to slip in the bracket in portrait mode with a heavy camera/lens. They responded to both emails within two hours with extremely helpful and very easy to follow instructions, and in the case of the issue with the locking plate, a detailed diagram showing how to adjust a tensioning wheel to keep the plate in place. I was considering a Manfrotto ball head, but was so impressed with the service that I purchased the Slik model.

All in all, this is an extremely well built, easy to use, and very effective tripod. Slik also appears to be backing this with some excellent technical support. I simply could not recommend this more highly.

Update - I have been using it now for long exposure astrophotography, which is about the most demanding application I can think of. Easy to mount something like an iOptron on it. Rock solid; takes a heavy counterweight, my 5D IV and a 70-200+1.4x extender with no problem. Attached photo is of M33 taken over 45 minutes.
