Top Customer Reviews
I purchased these because of the price. I mean, they look good, so for the price I could take the chance and see if they also, more importantly, sound good. If I wasn't impressed I could send them back. And of course, as Murphy's Law goes, the very next day I found a some V-Moda Crossfade headphones at a great deal, $119. I bought them as well, thinking "Well, I'll just send the Streets headphones back when they get here and keep the V-Modas."
Both headphones arrived on the same day. I thought, "Meh, I'll give them both a whirl."
And HO-LY s***!! These Streets headphones from 50 Cent are fabulous! Sound is as clear and dynamic as from the V-Modas! The only difference is that these are "On-Ear" versus "Over-Ear", other than that, these are just as wonderful for a much better price.
You might be wondering which ones I sent back. Well, neither. I'm keeping them both. Why? Because of that one small difference, on- versus over-ear. The over-ear headphones are more comfortable for long time wear, like when I'm writing for several hours a day. And the on-ear ones will work great for the gym, when my workouts only last about an hour and a half or so.
And with both headphones, I'll get fantastic, clear, vibrant, full sound quality. And...I got both for ridiculously good prices.
These headphones arrived on time, which is always a plus in my book. Although they state they aren't noise cancelling headphones, I find that they do greatly reduce noise. I was listening to an audiobook at normal levels and I absolutely could not hear someone talking right in front of me--their voice was muffled so that they sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher. If I want to hear anyone around me, I really have to lower the volume a lot to do so. The sound is great, both with music and audiobooks. I haven't used them with a phone, so I can't comment on how that works.
This may be trivial to some, but the color wasn't quite what I expected. I ordered the pink, and because of how their picture looked on my screen, I thought they had a metallic sheen to them. They do not. Another thing I didn't expect was how snug they are. Even fully extended, they squeeze my head. If I'm not careful with how they're placed, they can hurt my ears. They can also make my ears sweat. None of these things bother me much. What brings my rating down from 5 stars is the PACKAGING!!! First of all, the box is heavy! The delivery man asked if I had ordered weights, it was that heavy for its size. The packaging is not only heavy, it needs instructions on how to open the blue cube! We laid it on its side so I could pull on the handle while my mom pushed on its bottom side, to no avail. We finally handed the whole thing over to my brother, who got frustrated and took the electric knife to it like it was the Thanksgiving turkey!
May you have better success.
laying on the speakers of my 7 yr old MacBook Pro trying to hear everything that's being said.
I read all the reviews and thought I'd give them a try even though some questioned whether
they'd work with a Mac. And there were several who thought they had received defective ones.
Guess what... they do work with both PC's and Mac's and any other mobile device I suspect.
When I first plugged these in I thought..."They're defective. They don't work!" But ... I was wrong.
They were just fine, it was the person using them that was the problem. It took a few minutes
before I realized I had to go into my system preferences and un-mute them! For you Macs out
there who may not be familiar enough with your systems..
Plug your earphones into your Mac. Under the Apple icon select System Preferences.
When that window opens, select "Sound". At the top of the Sound Preference Panel select the "Output" tab.
Uncheck "Mute" which will switch the output from your built-in speakers to your headphones. Adjust the
volume by sliding the little tab from left to right. Put your headphones on and enjoy!
Please note: Each time, at least on my older Pro and using Mac 10.9.5, I switch from my internal speakers
to the headphones, I need to go back to the "Sound" Preference Panel and uncheck "mute" to divert the
sound from the internal speakers to the headphones. However, when I unplug the headphones, the output
automatically reverts to the internal speakers.
These are wired headphones. They come with a sturdy case and a cleaning cloth. They fold up for convenient
storage in the case. So far I've found the sound to be crisp and clear. They're comfortable to wear and you
don't have the problem of them falling out of your ears like ear buds do.
If you've put the speaker volume control on your menu bar, when you're using them, you can adjust the
volume from there. You do that by going back to your Sound Preference Panel. Go to the first or left tab
titled "Sound Effects". At the very bottom of that page check "Show volume on menu bar". You should
see the speaker icon now at the top of your display on the menu bar. If you click on, it a slide bar will
appear to adjust the volume.
These are very good quality inexpensive headphones that I'd recomment to anyone.
fair warning, the plastic head band can be broken. My son has a green pair that he had plugged into his computer that he'd forgotton about as he'd jumped up to do something. They hit the solid wood floor and cracked at the top of the headband. Gorilla tape has kept it together for 8 months now and he still uses them.
