Editorial Reviews
Review
* "I read the whole thing and loved it! My favorite chapters were the more intimate ones, where the contributing writers talked about how the games affected them from a personal standpoint...I kept turning the pages looking to connect with the writers, and it happened a lot...The quotes and factoids are great...Grammatically, it's spotless...There's a plethora of balance, knowledge, and fun here...This is the best book Weiss has written so far." - Patrick Hickey, Jr., author of The Minds Behind the Games: Interviews With Cult and Classic Video Game Developers
* "This book has a great collection of game-related stories that really take me back to the '90s, when I had so much fun playing the heck out of the Super Nintendo." - Steve Woita, game designer/programmer of Atari 2600 Taz, Garfield, Asterix and Quadrun.
* "Each one of Brett's books is painstakingly researched, very well-written and extremely polished. This Super Nintendo book is no exception and should definitely find a place in the library of every retro-gaming enthusiast."- Dr. Roberto Dillon, author of The Golden Age of Video Games and Ready: A Commodore 64 Retrospective.
* "Brett Weiss has captured an essential part of what made the SNES indelible and one of the classic video game systems. The personal stories and memories wrapped up in each game are a welcome time warp back to those halcyon days." - Tim Lapetino, author of Art of Atari.
* "Brett Weiss proves again that he is the master of game directories"- Leonard Herman, author of Phoenix IV:The History of the Videogame Industry.
* "Weiss puts a heartwarming and personal spin on all that is still great with the Super Nintendo." - Michael Thomasson, author of Downright Bizarre Games: Video Games thatCrossed the Line!
*"You can always depend on Brett Weiss for the world's most thorough deep-dive on vintage 80sand 90s gaming. There's no one I know that's more knowledgeable on the game systems we all fell in love with years ago. His books are a must-have for any modern-day gamer wanting to get an old school fix. His books won't just prove a dose of nostalgia, you'll also discover games you never even knew existed!" -Adam F. Goldberg, creator of "The Goldbergs" hit TV show

After finding a suitable reading spot, the real fun began. The Super Nintendo Omnibus is chock full of beautiful pictures in high resolution. For anyone who played Super Nintendo at the time, these images showcase the fun and excitement of the Super Nintendo. And I am not just talking about Mario or Zelda. I was treated to images and box art for Earthworm Jim, and even movie- based games like The Addams Family, a real delight. Also every game comes with introductions and a description. So even if you missed it back in the day, or was a little confused by it; you can now find a concise explanation of the game in question. For example, E.V.O. has always made me a little confused when it came to the game play. Yet it is easily explained and now I can join the bandwagon of fun, along with those who love this particular title.
Lastly, there is an insider column. These were written by authors, fans, and game journalists; they are all great. Hearing about people’s personal experiences with games is really amazing. Learning that they enjoy and love games makes for some interesting observations. Plus, these writers show some of their humanity and when people do that it feels like its ok for everyone else to do so as well. Which makes this book not only a fun romp through classic gaming but an experience not to be missed.

Something that I wanted to call special attention to is the presentation and printing of the book itself... its very high quality. My slipcover was sadly a little bent by the delivery service, but the book itself is huge... not in page count (though it is there too) but in actual, physical size, making it an excellent coffee table book as I'd hoped. The pages themselves are high-quality paper with excellent printing used for all the images, which is important since there's many on every page.
In all, very happy with this purchase and can't wait for Volume 2!

Its a big book and I'm interested to see if it can be shrunk a bit smaller in the future.
