It is way too heavy and thick! At least it is so for a neck knife. If you want to use the included clip to put in your belt that's one thing, but good luck using it that way, you've got to somehow place it where a belt loop is to pull against the loop so it doesn't just slide around the belt when you tug at it.
Because of the absurd thickness it caused the blade geometry to have a very steep incline angle. This is very difficult to field sharpen with most field sharpeners, impossible with mine. It's also not easy to sharpen with any sharpening system, honestly. I deeply and passionately abhor the blade of this knife. It is not a cutter, it is a smasher with an awkward edge on it.
I can find no use what so ever for this thing. It's likely going to be donated to a friend who will never use it. I consider it complete junk!
The sheath has amazing retention and I feel 100% confident when I wear it, which is pretty much always, that the knife will remain secure until I reach for it. I haven't used the belt clip, though it does seem to be of good quality and I wouldn't hesitate to use it if the need somehow arose.
I dinged it one star because the knife came *super* dull out of box. I would love to see sog give the customer a better edge, but I guess at the price point, something had to give.
Still, over all, very happy with the purchase.
The only thing I'm not really fond of is that it doesn't have a very sharp edge. I think this may be because of the thickness of the blade, making it difficult to put a truly sharp edge on it to begin with, so what I manage to put on it seems to fall back to a mediocre edge pretty quickly.
Really nice, small task knife and it'll definitely help get you out of a tight situation.
So what's not to like? Mine wasn't very sharp out of the box, but that's not a deal killer by any means. It would be pretty simple to put an edge on this if I keep it. But the thing that drives me crazy with this and a lot of other wharncliffes is that the handle gets in the way of using the full length of the blade unless you work right at the edge of a table or cutting board. Look at the attached pictures and try to imagine dicing chives or something. It won't work unless you hold the knife so that the handle is not above your cutting surface. All they had to do was take that handle down a couple of milimeters.
Sure, I could grind the handle down and sharpen the knife and solve both my complaints in 15 minutes. But after paying $35 for a knife made of meh steel, I'm not too keen on voiding the warranty straight out of the box. I haven't decided for sure, but this one is probably going back, and that's a shared. It was so close. Oh, and if you want to see a wharncliffe that got it right, look at the Yojimbo 2.
