Product Description
Product Description
The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FSAT8-CP Flash II Tanto is designed for quick access while letting you have piece of mind knowing an additional safety lock is incorporated giving you extra security. Made of AUS-8 steel with an attractive satin finish, the 3.5-inch straight edge, folding blade has a tanto shape with a very strong tip that's ideal for piercing, sharpens easily and makes quick work of any task. When you start to open the blade, SOG’s patented S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) takes over and high-tension coil springs propel the blade the rest of the way open for fast, easy, one-handed access. A Piston lock utilizes a movable bar wedged between the blade tang and knife handle to securely lock the blade in place when in the open position. The ergonomically contoured and well balanced handle has a black finish and is made of a high strength, abrasion and impact resistant glass-reinforced nylon that will fit comfortably in your hand. A reversible pocket clip extends from the back of the handle, allowing the Flash to sit low in your pocket for the most discreet carry possible. This feature can also be used as a money clip. The FSAT8-CP has a closed length of 4.5-inches, overall length of 8-inches, blade thickness of 0.13-inches and weighs 3.1-ounces. The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FSAT8-CP Flash II Tanto Knife with Straight Edge Assisted Folding 3.5-Inch Steel Blade comes with a limited lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials. Each SOG product is created with the help of company founder and chief engineer, Spencer Frazer. Known for their uncompromising style and performance, these knives and tools showcase innovation, dependability and a unique, futuristic style that has garnered awards and recognition worldwide. SOG products have also won favor among law enforcement, military and industrial customers that rely on their tools to perform flawlessly in the toughest, most adverse conditions.

Overall, I give this knife 5 stars (I'd give it 6 based on value). I am VERY happy with this knife. Looking forward to buying other items from S.O.G.
Pros
- made in the U.S.A.
- lightweight
- excellent blade steel
- assisted opening
- side mounted bolt style blade lock
- left, right or removable carry clip
- very good fit and finish
- just hose it off, blow gun to dry it and dry lube it
- previous Flash II had three years of hard use with no failure
- excellent quality for the price makes this a no brainer for everyday on the job use.
Cons
- as tough as the handle is, I wouldn't lean on it when prying
- the safety manages to engage just when you really need to use the knife quickly
- personally would prefer a slightly larger handle
-Sharp
-Pretty Good Lock
-very ergonomic, Fits in my hand very very well
-Pocket clip is in my opinion the best you can get in any knife, nothing beats it
-Very good sized blade
-It is assisted so all you need Is just a little push on the thumb studs and it flys open
- at 3 ounces it weighs very little and makes so you hardly feel it
-Decent steel so it is not to hard to sharpen
The Bad
-Because of the the width of the blade and the width of the handle cutting flush and close to the handle can be Sorta awkward Which is why I sort of like Aegis Knife also made by SOG a Bit more
-Little blade play, But nothing to really complain about
-the clip only has one hex screw in it so it can wobble from side to side, I am not really fond of that, I want a super solid construction
-The tanto has some Good and bad things about it to, It is great for stabbing something but it has no belly on it
-the jimping on this back part of the handle is not deep enough to really do anything to help when holding the knife
In summery This knife is great for the price, If you cant afford a more expensive knife, Then get this one No Doubt about it

The Good:
- Strong steel
- Very Easy to keep sharp with the occasional honing
- Light weight
- Very fast operation
- Comfortable grip
- Extra Safety installed so as to prevent accidental opening
- Well designed pocket clip
- Tanto blade good for limiting blade use/damage
- Its a SOG
The not so good, but not terrible
- There is a little bit of blade play, both side to side and up and down. It does decrease over time and SOG will "tune" it if you send it back in for their lifetime warranty service.
Awesome knife. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good knife from a US Based company that will hold up to what you put it through.
- comfortable grip
- one hand operation with a little bit of practice
- security lock is a nice perk and reason why i bought this knife
- very sharp
1 star for opening method
- opening is hard with one hand due to odd placement of the pin. a rear knife deployment similar to that of the vulcan's (deploy knife by flicking the blade extension extending in the back of the hadnle) would've been better, however i learned to open the knife by a flick of the wrist instead of using the metal dimple.
- would've bought the vulcan if it had the security lock
