The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FSAT8-CP Flash II Tanto is designed for quick access while letting you have piece of mind knowing an additional safety lock is incorporated giving you extra security. Made of AUS-8 steel with an attractive satin finish, the 3.5-inch straight edge, folding blade has a tanto shape with a very strong tip that's ideal for piercing, sharpens easily and makes quick work of any task. When you start to open the blade, SOG’s patented S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) takes over and high-tension coil springs propel the blade the rest of the way open for fast, easy, one-handed access. A Piston lock utilizes a movable bar wedged between the blade tang and knife handle to securely lock the blade in place when in the open position. The ergonomically contoured and well balanced handle has a black finish and is made of a high strength, abrasion and impact resistant glass-reinforced nylon that will fit comfortably in your hand. A reversible pocket clip extends from the back of the handle, allowing the Flash to sit low in your pocket for the most discreet carry possible. This feature can also be used as a money clip. The FSAT8-CP has a closed length of 4.5-inches, overall length of 8-inches, blade thickness of 0.13-inches and weighs 3.1-ounces. S.O.G. has a fine reputation for making some very solid knives and multi-tools. I was looking for something I can carry in my pocket for a variety of uses, while still being legal to carry in Arizona (folding blade and blade length under 4 inches). After looking around, I found the S.O.G. Flash II Straight Edge Tanto. My first impression out of the box is that this knife is solidly built, fits in my hand but is light. I was very impressed with the blade thickness and how sharp it is right out of the box! Blade finish is flawless and the tanto design just looks cool. Really Cool!! The opening assist and safety features this knife has are really impressive. It's really easy to open this knife, works quickly and effortlessly.

Overall, I give this knife 5 stars (I'd give it 6 based on value). I am VERY happy with this knife. Looking forward to buying other items from S.O.G.

I lost my previous SOG Flash II after stupidly leaving it on my truck box. I ordered this replacement the same day. I need a tough one handed opening knife every day in my business. I had the SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FSA98-CP Flash II Knife with Partially Serrated Folding 3.5-Inch Steel Drop Point Blade and GRN Handle, Satin Finish chose the tanto style blade because it lends itself to using it as a paring chisel, light pry bar and scraper in my daily abuse of this fine knife. The serrations were a pain to sharpen and I found myself needing a full length blade more often than a rope cutter. I glued the safety lock switch in the open position because I disliked fumbling with it, the safety negates the assisted opening feature.

Pros
- made in the U.S.A.
- lightweight
- excellent blade steel
- assisted opening
- side mounted bolt style blade lock
- left, right or removable carry clip
- very good fit and finish
- just hose it off, blow gun to dry it and dry lube it
- previous Flash II had three years of hard use with no failure
- excellent quality for the price makes this a no brainer for everyday on the job use.

Cons
- as tough as the handle is, I wouldn't lean on it when prying
- the safety manages to engage just when you really need to use the knife quickly
- personally would prefer a slightly larger handle

The action is good and the acr-lock functions as well as the other SOG's with the same mechanism. There is a difference in the steel, though this is not at all poor quality. If you are looking for a reasonably priced (I paid $48.15 here on Amazon) lightweight folder, this is a good choice.

This knife is awesome. Very strong steel for the blade (AUS-8) that is holding up to quite a bit of use in the first 3 weeks of ownership. The hardest I have been on the knife to date is using it as a box cutter. It actually performs surprisingly well for being such a thick blade. It also slices through all sorts of tape w/o leaving much goo on the blade.

The Good:

- Extra Safety installed so as to prevent accidental opening

The not so good, but not terrible

- There is a little bit of blade play, both side to side and up and down. It does decrease over time and SOG will "tune" it if you send it back in for their lifetime warranty service.

Awesome knife. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good knife from a US Based company that will hold up to what you put it through.
