The functionality of a multi-tool is useless if you don't have it on hand when you need it. The syncs are multi-tools designed to easily be worn with the detachable base as a belt buckle or simply Clipped on a pack strap or boot. That way, anywhere you go, your multi-tool is there with you. While the tool can be conveniently Detached from the base with one hand, it stays locked and secure to it under Active movement when not needed. Sync II fits belts up to 1-3/4". thinner belts up to 1-3/8” are best used with the sync I. They come equipped with a selection of frequently used components that are available at a moment's notice to save the day anytime and anywhere.

Nice size and very cool looking belt buckle. Knife is reasonably sharp for my needs. Pliers seem sufficiently sturdy. Tool goes into and out of belt buckle holder nicely - for easy access.
Two things that need improvement: (1) As other reviews around the WWW will indicate, the belt prong is not angled, so it tends to unhook itself from the belt. Great multipurpose belt buckle, but it needs to function as a belt buckle! It will fall open on you. Wearing it a little tighter than I wear other belts helps. (2) The bottle opener is very difficult to use. Seems to be made for miniature bottle caps, not regular size beer bottles. Expect to spend as much time opening the bottle as drinking its contents. Also, expect to have it slip off the cap with force in a way that might scrape some skin from your fingers.
The SOG Sync I is great, but it's flawed. I did buy it to be used as a belt buckle.
-it's very well made and very efficient as a tool. The tool itself is well designed (functionnal pliers, very sharp blade, everything is sturdy)
-it's not heavy and it's very sturdy
- it's VERY ugly when used as a belt
- the Sync I is too small as a buckle(most regular belts will not fit) and the Sync II is way too big and heavy: they really did mess it up
- it's uncomfortable to wear with the clip(as others have mentionned, the clip does hurt your hips)
I decided not to use it as a belt buckle because it looks really weird and not cool at all. I unscrewed the ''belt holding pin'' and now use it permanently clipped to my belt. Very cool item, but should not be advertised as a belt buckle. Great tool, mediocre belt.
Really had high hopes for it too, love the idea.
