The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FF23-CP Nautical is not just a knife, it's a precision instrument with many parts working together in synchronicity. Made of 6Cr12MoV steel with an attractive satin finish, this 2.88-inch straight edge, folding blade has a sheepsfoot shape that doesn’t have a true point due to the spine curving down to meet with the straight edge making this knife ideal for rescue work. This knife features a Lockback, which uses a lockbar with spring tension to hold the blade safely in the open position. The ergonomically contoured and well-balanced handle has a black finish and is made of a very durable reinforced material called G10, which is made up of fiberglass soaked in resin, then highly compressed and baked to become physically stable under extreme temperature fluctuations. The Nautical features a marlin-spike, which is especially useful in marine applications to untie knots, but can be used as an awl, a scribe, for digging, prying, scraping and more. The knife has a closed length of 4.38-inches, overall length of 7.13-inches, blade thickness of 0.1-inch and weighs 4.9-ounces. The SOG Specialty Knives & Tools FF23-CP Nautical Knife comes with a limited lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials. Each SOG product is created with the help of company founder and chief engineer, Spencer Frazer. Known for their uncompromising style and performance, these knives and tools showcase innovation, dependability and a unique, futuristic style that has garnered awards and recognition worldwide. From the Manufacturer
The Nautical is not just a knife it's a precision instrument with many parts working together in synchronicity. A marlin-spike is especially useful in marine applications to untie knots but we were surprised to find out how many other uses they have. Use it as an awl, a scribe, for digging, prying, scraping, or ... you get the idea. What you might not see at first glance though is that the liners are crafted from super strong and lightweight titanium and mated to tough G10 handles. The big half serrated blade opens and closes as fast as you can say 'red on right return' (a nautical term). About SOG: Strong, Innovative, Specialty Tools SOG originally stood for Studies and Observation Group, an elite joint services military group designed to handle covert operations during the Vietnam War. SOG Specialty Knives was founded in the spirit of this elite group and became the first knife manufacturer to offer an expanded line that included fixed blades, folding knives, and multipurpose tools.
Top customer reviews
Only negative is the blade does not lock open. I bought it to work with ropes, I carry a knife that I can use and open one handed if I need to cut a rope, this tool is needed to quickly, safely and painlessly untie the toughest knots in rope and a needed aide in weaving rope. Great quality tool. Delivered quickly and as described and promised. Thanks!
There is also a shackle key built into the blade so you don't have to break the marlinspike by using it for a purpose it wasn't designed for. ;)
