SOG Assisted Technology Increases Speed, Safety, and Usability
Fast, safe, single-handed opening makes SOG Trident Series knives incredibly easy to handle in a wide variety of situations. When you go to unfold the TF-2's blade, SOG's patented S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) takes over. High-tension coil springs propel the blade open, so you can easily access it with just one hand.
S.A.T. knives offer security and peace of mind with their locking mechanisms that are stronger, more reliable, and easier to access than other knives'. For Trident Series knives, this means the blade is held in place with a reliable piston lock that can be quickly released with a sliding button. An additional safety lock offers extra security when the blade is closed, and for easy reference, the lock switch shows red when the knife is ready to be opened.
Cryogenic Heat Treatment Guarantees a Sharp, Dependable Blade
The TF-2 offers a full, 3.75-inch, scratch-resistant, satin-finished, AUS8 stainless steel blade that is heat treated. Because the workhorse of any knife is its cutting surface, SOG's proprietary Cryogenic Heat Treatment process ensures that its blade will stay sharp over the long haul. This intensive process takes more than 48 hours and requires reducing the blade's temperature to less than -300 degrees Fahrenheit, then slowly bringing it back up to room temperature. The stress created by this process strengthens the stainless steel at the atomic level and increases the blade's overall durability and edge retention.
Ergonomic, Lightweight Design Ensures Comfortable Use
Even if your blade is sharp, it's hard to make precise cuts if your knife doesn't fit comfortably in your hand. That's why this knife's handle is ergonomically contoured. Crafted from tough, glass-reinforced Zytel, the handle is well-balanced and features SOG's unique Digi-Grip texturing, a feature that gives you gripping power where you need it most. Additionally, the grooved handle allows you to cut heavy cord and cable without having to open the blade.
And at just 3.6 ounces, this folding knife is lightweight and easy to carry. A reversible, bayonet-mounted clip extends from the back of the handle, allowing the knife to sit low in your pocket for the most discreet carry possible. The removable clip is easily switched for right/left hand-carry.
This knife is backed by a lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials.

Top Customer Reviews
1. Assisted opening. Not the fastest assisted opener I own but still it makes for easy deployment.
2. Good steel quality and RAZOR sharp out of the box. BTW, you pay for a lot of knife and in turn SOG gives you a lot of knife.
3. Awesome clip. Not only looks cool but serves its purpose. If you don't want everyone knowing your wearing a knife, dont worry because none of the knife shows, only the clip.
4. Great handle. Great big handle so you can really get a good grip.
5. Seatbelt cutter, or fishing line cutter, rope cutter, whatever you use it for. SOG installed a nice lock so you can cut your way out of car accident or cut your fishing line without ever opening the knife. Makes for a safe knife.
6. Locks up fairly tight. Not the tighest lockup but good none the less.
1. Thumb jimping is so so. Very big jimping, but still works ok.
2. If your lookin for a smaller tactical knife, this is not for you. It is quite large.
3. Medium speed assisted opening. I like really fast assisted opening, but some may not care. (Kershaw Blur to me has the fastest, but you also get more knife with the SOG Trident)
Not the biggest SOG fan but they did good with the Trident.
Top issues that users complained about:
Blade wiggle - They must have changed the machine tightening specs because it's solid as a rock
Action - Users complained about blade opening too slow. The action is now quick and methodical.
I carry this knife everyday now and it has been able to tackle all my needs. For the 60 bucks or so, you get a really functional and logical tool. The grip is nice, it sits well in my pocket (I don't really use the clip), and the blade is sharp (however I may go get it professionally edged for an even sharper edge).
I have zero problems with this knife and and glad that I bought it. You won't regret it. If you are looking for an every day carry, this is your workhorse.
After about 2 months of usage of everyday carry, the blade is pretty dull. I need to find a sharpener. As an added though it didn't come very sharp to begin with. Build wise it is still really holding up, just like out of box quality.
Update as of 5-12-15:
I hadcarrying this knife every day since I received it, until a couple of days ago I discovered the thumb stud had loosened and fallen off of the knife. Not sure why this happened and I expect better from a company that sells products of "tactical/military" quality. I had not been using this knife for anything other than daily cutting tasks, and if it failed for me it would most certainly fail in a combat scenario when someone needs it. I had considered sending a few of these to my friends in the Army and Navy, but am glad I didn't. As previously stated, I would not buy this knife at full market value considering the poor quality control and lack of durability.
I don't know if it's supposed to flip out all on its own when released, mine, you have to nudge it.
I like the safety switch, the simple string cutter--have used it quite often--even though many reviews seemed to think it was an unnecessary gimick.
I would suggest some might consider this INSTEAD of a Swiss army knife, not for everyone, but worth the thought.

This knife is quality through and through. You will not be disappointed. I touched this blade up on my sharpener and you can shave with it. This is now my EDC knife.Published 9 months ago by Robert M.
Love SOG. Good sturdy knife. The line cutter is pretty useless and the belt clip is way to stiff. Damn near ripped my pocket pulling it out of some shop coveralls. Read morePublished 13 months ago by Joseph S.
Great knive, holds sharpness and easy to sharpen, doesn't corode, spring works great after a lot of use. Read morePublished 19 months ago by Chris
Be careful with the clip. it has a tendency to snag on stuff, and when it does, it will expand the plastic hole where it comes out of. Other then that, I love the knife.Published 21 months ago by Tiny
