Bose QC15 - One of the best, if not the best, in "noise canceling" technology. Everyone who says they do noise canceling, it's never active like the QC15's, and if so, not nearly as active. Sound wise, they're good, but not what people go crazy over.
Beats Studios - Too much bass. Great sound, and Monster makes quality products, but you're buying the name and the bass.
So where do I put these? Beneath both of those, sure, but that's where they are intended to be. Bose and Beats are meant to score 10 out of 10, but they're 8's at best. Sol's product is meant to be a 7 out of 10, and it's exactly that. So if you're just a music lover, need good flat audio with a little extra kick, these are certainly a great deal. Insanely durable, fantastic modern design, and great sound.
Note, these bleed a lot of noise, so for the work place, your bystanders may hear a little something. I use the Master Tracks for drumming, and although there's no active noise canceling, it does a pretty good job since it fits around my ears perfectly. They're also cozy at my desk. Bought the Tracks for my wife and dad, they both love them. More noise certainly seeps through, but the on-ear design makes them a little easier for packing and traveling, which is what they need them for.
For the price, these are probably one of the best buy's you'll find.
These headphones are great for blocking out sound around you while listening to your favorite tunes. I can barely hear someone next to me when they're talking normally even without music playing. When music is playing, it's even better! I love that about these headphones and comes in handy when trying to focus or block out loud noises.
These headphones are also quite comfortable. They fit nice, are light weight and do not hurt the top of your head or your ears if you wear them for a long time. I also wear glasses and have found that they do not press against them like many other pairs of headphones do. That can be very uncomfortable and definitely a deal breaker if you wear glasses. However, these fit perfectly with no pressure on my glasses at all.
The headphone "cups" can actually come off of the head band which make them useful as small speakers or if you just want one headphone on at a time. This would be good for when you need to hear things in the real world while listening to music or whatever.
Now let's get to the sound. The audio quality is great like I said before... Most of the time. By that I don't mean sometimes they work and sometimes they don't; it's just that certain pitches of sounds do not sound optimal like all the other sounds do. I noticed this in a few songs where there are higher notes along with lower ones. It seems like the lower notes have priority at times. This doesn't happen often and some people may not be able to tell it anyway, but it was enough for me to take off a star. As far as all other situations, these headphones are fantastic. The bass is really deep and you can feel it. It is amazing. Anything from listening to bass heavy dubstep, to classical music, the audio sounds top notch.
Ability to disconnect from headband
Some songs have very slight and weird audio distortions
All and all, great headphones for almost any occasion! They are a bit pricey for the average consumer who just needs something to listen to music with, but as far as professional sounding audio quality goes, these are decently priced. I would recommend them to anyone who has the extra money. I'd rate them 4.5 if I could because there's only one small problem with them so I feel I have to take off something.
