However, it has some MAJOR issues. The OS, though it can be a personal opinion, is not really good with some serious bloatware. The design, as beautiful as it looks, makes for the slipperiest phone ever. The buttons are weird to press (though the Ringke fusion case helped a lot), but the biggest downside is the screen. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW BAD THIS SCREEN IS, not because of resolution, but how easy to break it is. After less than 5 months of extremely careful use with the case and a screen protector, one day I take it out of my pocket and the screen had shattered on one side, leaving half the screen useless. I literally had never dropped it, so I guess it's just either a crappy build or a crappy glass.
Going over to Moto as they seem to have far more resistant phones.
Ever since Android smartphones came about, no other phone lasted this long on me. It's still working perfectly, with zero problems so far, one year in. I am pretty certain now that it owes big part of its longevity to waterproof design. I never (intentionally) submerge my phones in water, but I do take them to intense workouts all the time. I've also put different SIM cards in it in several foreign countries, and never had any connectivity problems. It's been in dusty and wet environments and survived everything so far.
Sony is not considered the most glamorous phone brand, however I feel it's somewhat underrated. The only downside to this specific model is only 16GB of internal memory. It fills up quickly if you have a lot of stuff that can't be on external SD card, but nothing unmanageable.

FYI - I upgraded from a Nexus 5. So, the Z3 - Screen is excellent, battery life is incredible, its looks... its looks! It looks almost too nice, like you don't really want to use it because of how beautiful it is. The back is slippery, yes, but that's what you get with a glass back. Either get yourself a case (try to get one which doesn't diminish the phone's appearance too much!) or just be extra careful. I also purchase a 128GB micro SD and tempered glass protectors for both the front and back glass. Adds a bit more expense, but for the added protection against permanent screen scratches, I'm happy to pay it. Even in late 2015, this is still a very solid buy, especially considering the price. I was lucky and got this for £250 from Amazon Warehouse Deals, in Like New condition. And it genuinely was exactly like new, except the retail box had some stickers on it, which I easily removed. The phone itself was in pristine condition, and included all accessories.
- Everything about the phone is amazing except for the very minor cons below.
- Volume buttons not as tactile/responsive as I would like.
- Slippery to hold. Be extra careful or get yourself a case if you don't mind using one (I'm not a fan of them but I have ordered a minimalist one).
- Sony bloat-ware was there at first, but the majority of it is very easy to remove, simply uninstall it. Anything I couldn't uninstall (2 or 3 apps) I just put in a folder at the end of my apps list. Easily fixed!
- So nice-looking that I was afraid to use it at first, still am very careful when using it (I know this isn't really a con, but it just shows how minor my complaints with this phone really are!).
I guess it's fairly deceiving with such a short pros list and a long cons list - so if you're just skimming and read this last paragraph, know this - this phone is amazing. The cons are extremely minor, everything else about the phone is fantastic. And yes, as you can tell, I'm in love with this phone.
I have an i-phone for work and much prefer the Sony and android operating system.
True I do not own any other apple devices and I know people who get the most of out apple tend to own several apple products that are all synced together, but I do not wish to be bound to apple only products for the rest of my life.
My only negatives are that the unit itself is ever so slightly too big to operate with one hand - I know that this size is becoming the standard - or maybe i just have small hands, but there have been times I wishes it was ever so slightly smaller.
Other negative is the reproduction of music isn't great when compared to a specific MP3 player (for example the cowon i9 that I own) I have played with the EQ settings - but it isn't up to my standard - but hey ho its primarily used for music.
Otherwise I am very happy with this phone - the layout, processing speed, expandable memory, ease of use, features and settings all make running my life from this little unit a pleasure.
I did have the Z2 which was absolutely fantastic, it really is a shame they discontinued them as I'd have very happily got another, I'd have also loved the Z5 for the 23mp camera but £500? Jesus Christ. The battery on the Z3 doesn't last quite as long as the Z2, though it will still go for a full day with constant use of apps, youtube, games & camera (on stamina mode). Camera (20.7mp) is lovely and crisp and photos still look good on larger screens or slightly zoomed in.
One thing that I'm slightly worried about the waterproofness (is that even a word?), I've always bought the Z's because of this, however when I originally replaced my Z2 with another Z2 it drowned, fast. I've noticed that these phones are now marketed as being "water resistant" as opposed to "waterproof". I've had this one out in the pouring rain and it's been fine, I'm just praying to god it doesn't take a dunk in a puddle as I don't want to find out the hard way!
As usual, Sony phones are built like bricks (remember sony ericsons?!). Obviously these are slightly different with having glass (front & back) but I've dropped mine a number of times already and it's doing ok!
