I chose these, mostly on a shot-in-the-dark purchase. I was NOT disappointed!
Everything about these boots is ultra high quality. With them, my feet were safe, dry, and warm throughout my entire trip to Antarctica! These boots brought me through: wading in ankle-high Antarctic waters, climbing up hills with knee-high snow drifts, walking on sharp icy rocks, and beyond... all in below-freezing temperatures! They are very heavy for shoes, but they don't feel too heavy while wearing them. Sure, my suitcase was weightier than everyone else's, but it was DEFINITELY worth it! These boots outshone the provided boots by a mile! And after the trip? Not a scratch on them! A specific feature that I found wonderful is the elastic pull on the top, with the holding clip. you can cinch this up, and nothing will get in!
Another great trait of these boots is that they are true to size. Many insulated snow boots are tight, since the outside is true to size, but then the insulation shrinks the space on the inside. These boots appear larger than their shoe size, but fit perfectly with the thick insulation.
Also, these boots provide great arch support, and excellent ankle support- no danger of slipping and twisting your ankle with these.
All in all, these boots are the best boots I've ever come upon, and last beautifully through the most extreme conditions!
I estimate Sorel boots run half a size small--I usually wear a 7.5 in women's shoes, and the 7 of these boots and my other Sorel boots fit perfectly.
Yes, they are Frankenstein Boots - but I can drive my manual transmission, small Toyota pick-up while wearing them.
No, they are not "heavy" - you know they are on your feet but in no way do you labor when you walk.
Size: I usually wear a 7.5 but bought a 8 and am very happy I did - they fit perfectly with my wool socks.
The Height: Yep, they go up high and they are snug - so don't plan on tucking much into them. I wear yoga pants under my bids which works out really well. I haven't tried wearing them with jeans.
I cannot recommend these boots enough for women with chronically cold feet!
So the bottom is rubberized, but the inside is cushioned and insulated plus another felt (1/4" thick) inner liner. You can tell there's a reflective layer in that felt near the outer edge of the liner. The outer "gaiter" of the boot shaft is a wind shell with drawstring to help seal it shut. They are heavier than the average snow boot you'd see off the shelf here in NJ, but weighing arctic cold vs leg stamina, I think the glutes can take it. Just have to work on those shins before I leave.
Your feet will look like anime feet, they are HUGE, but they are so warm that I don't think I'll be worrying about how "Mickey Mouse" my feet look like!

These boots are the real deal. Feet stay warm in cold Minnesota winters. Very big though so I don't use them for everyday use. Read morePublished 5 months ago by martiniblonde
You'll sweat if it gets above freezing, but that's not a condition you buy these boots for. They hold their own in -10F just fine.Published 12 months ago by Mr E
Great Boots. I bought my first pair about 15 years ago. They are not a bit snug, too snug to wear with thick winter socks, although for a quick dash out to the mail box, the felt... Read morePublished 16 months ago by L. Trehy
Except for being notably larger than expected, these boots are the bomb!
Just be mindful that these are BIG boots, for arctic weather! Read more
I was very disappointed with this purchase. Although the boots were exactly what i was looking for they appeared to have been previously worn. Read morePublished 17 months ago by Erin Berthiaume
If you have wide feet, you'll love these boots. The upper part of the boot (calf) is quite tight with layers on, but I cut the liner on the seam and it worked well. Read morePublished 18 months ago by Holly and Mark Needham
Size 11 is too small and Size 12 is too big I am apparently an 11.5
However, boots are great just a bit heavy but not as obvious when wearing them. Read more
