It's Barely a Game. It's about $20 worth of game.

The core fighting mechanic is great, thats it. You that is probably the only positive I have for this installment. There almost nothing else. There is so little to this game outside that.

The campaigns are lackluster and barely seemed like any effort put into them. Barely any voice acting, or cinematics. A how lot of boring reading.

The roster is tiny. I'm assuming they held a lot of characters back to sell to us later.

The online is poor. There are a lot of connection drop and the lag is bad. Maybe they'll patch it later. Maybe.

The create a player is almost non-existent. A few online articles have looked at the amount of content between this game and SC5. This game only has about 1/3 of the customization options over the last game.

Also not back are the Tower of Souls stuff and all the other single player modes from previous titles.

It's just not worth it at $60. Let alone the $90 it cost with the season pass. If your a fan of SC then just wait till it $20, because that's about how much game you actually get in this title.

Long time fan here. SC6 is a Good game marred my virtual currency and the worst load times. In a nutshell you have to buy the deluxe version to access the full game. 99 bucks. Without the deluxe edition or season pass you have to pay real money to get the other characters. Right now Tyra is downloadable. For 6.00 bucks. Sigh. Remember when 60 bucks got you the full game? Not anymore. Thanks EA for setting this horrible trend. The game itself Plays very well and I have enjoyed it for what was offered in the standard edition. There is a pretty deep story mode and Arcade mode is back and of course ranked matches online. I had a lot of disconnects and a lot of waiting around. A bit inconsistent. Speaking of waiting...the load times are atrocious in this game... even when you play off-line you’re going to wait nearly 1 minute between matches even in arcade mode. I’ve never Seen a fighting game with such horrible load times. The amount of characters is also lacking but that’s probably because you’re going to get new characters down the road but of course you will have to pay for them if you want them. As a long time fan of this franchise I was really excited for soul calibur part six but this game disappointed me because of the greed in the industry

Boring, lacking in content, and not a full game

I have been a fan of the series since SC2. But this one was by far the most disappointment. Despite the bad taste in my mouth from the news that there would be DAY-1 DLC for Tira, a character that has been a part of the series since SC3, I bought it anyway.

My favorite part has always been the character creator. But this time around, the clothing options are severely lacking. There are probably half of the amount of clothing options in this game than there were in SC5. Any of what is available, is clothing options for the in-game characters. The developers couldn't be bothered to make NEW clothing options for custom characters. Nor could they even take the time to port over all the clothing options from the last game, seeing as a good chunk of what IS exclusive to custom characters is from SC5 anyway...

The gameplay is downright boring. The single-player game takes you through a story that is told through walls of text and plays more like a checklist than any sort of narrative. The graphics are nothing to write home about either. There is no visual difference between this game and the last one. There have been no improvements, or enhancements to warrant this game's existence. Not only that, but a third of the game's content is behind a pay wall, making the final price you pay for a FULL version of this game $90.

Wait for the price to go down if you absolutely want to play it. There is nothing redeemable about this entry to the series.

Better than SC2

I almost didn't get around to playing on the first day because it was so much fun making custom people! There are skeletons, elves, figma androids, and plenty of other choices to start off with before you turn it into something completely different.

Eventually I got around to starting story mode and I was surprised they adopted a visual novel-style delivery system for the corny but charming story, which was a welcome addition since it means there's a lot of concept art to be unlocked. There's also a story mode specifically for your OC character.

As far as the merit as a fighting game goes? This keeps with the series' strong point of using a weapon-based combat system to maintain play-style variety between characters. Ivy, Voldo, Mitsurugi, and Astaroth all control VERY differently so each time you pick someone up it's a whole new ball game. There's a very low skill floor and a mid-high skill ceiling so you can play online without being too intimidated.

NOT worth $60. If you can get it for $40 or less, go for it. Fun game. But, I can't convince any of my friends to but it because it's plagued with dlc right from the start. With barely any characters to start. Looks like it's gonna end up like Dead or Alive where they expect you to buy every button press.

I've played this game pretty much every day since release and I enjoy it alot. Even managed to make it to the top 150 in PS4 ranked. Plenty of story content fast dynamic game play with great sound effect. But this game has DLC and I can't support that. To my understanding this game has a tight budget but the dlc was announced before the game dropped and I'm not gonna give that a pass. Some of the doc is straight up content from previous games so 4 stars is what SC6 gets. I do recommend it but maybe after a price drop because of the dlc

Edit* After about a month of playing and like 1500 games later i sent SC6 back playing online was too much trouble. Online games have too much lag on a regular basis and i have high speed internet, verizon fios at that. Just wait for a price drop you're not missing anything if you wait to get this game trust me

I really really wanted to rate this game higher... it has amazing combat but so many things hurt my score.

I first created a character for the mission mode (and was happy I did when that character later was in the story (and that fight crosses over into the mission mode... you’ll see if you play it.

I was excited for the story mode as I thought they had made it more in depth than in the last few games. Sadly it was a whole 20 fights and was very short and had so many cutscenes that would have been better if they weren’t just still images and voices. I liked these games more when each character had a storyline you could play through. I’ve played every game in the series since soul edge so I know what the series is capable of providing.

I then tried mission mode and at first really enjoyed it, until near the end...the levels get to be just frustrating and at times the ai is just nuts and you don’t stand a chance (this isn’t often but is so annoying) and the level “the journeys end” is beyond annoying and rather than being a challenge just feels cheap and a killer of all fun. I have a level 58 character and maxed out level with my weapon style of choice and will win 2 rounds then get just demolished for the final 3 rounds and by demolished I mean getting a few hits in or get them close to no health and then have them take me from 80% health to 0 in a heart beat. When I fought Tira in the mission I figured after I beat her I’d unlock her! WRONG! If you want to play as the character they have included already as an opponent? Well you’ll have to pay for the season pass to unlock this character, unlock not download. This character is in the game, we shouldn’t need to pay more for content included in the disc.

I then tried arcade and it was fun, but I wish the scoring was based on more than the time it took to beat 8 fighters. To get gold on normal I believe you need to beat 8 in under 7 minutes? Ir maybe 7. And that’s 8 fights with a minimum of 3 rounds in each. Do no matter how many soul charge supers I used to finish a round or how many perfects I had my score wasn’t impacted.

I really wanted to give this game a higher score because the fighting is as slick as ever if not better. But short story, mission mode crazy ness, and characters already in the game that need paid dlc to play as just killed it for me.

It's Soulcaliber. If you own a PS4, this is what you have to get to play SC on this generation. It's just unfortunate that none of them have been as good as SCII or even the original on Dream Cast. It's hard to describe, but to me it just seems that the timing of moves is not what it was, and the older titles felt like they had better physics with how the characters moved, and how the weapons had weight and momentum behind them. The resolutions are of course much better now, but the older games somehow felt more polished. Disappointing, over all, but better than some of the PS3 iterations.

Le jeu est a son habitude extrêmement fluid, agréable et réactif. Ce qu'on attend avant tout d'un bon jeu de combat. Ils ont ajoutés quelques nouvelles mécaniques intéressante comme le reverse edge.

Cependant pour un jeu qui se vente d'avoir fait le saut pour l'engin Unreal, les graphismes et la customisation des personnages ressemble a ce que l'on avait déjà sur PS3. Le détail des vêtements, la définition des textures souvent pixelisé, les vestes, pantelons, ou robes qui ne s'adapte pas a la morphologie du personnage dans le character customisation.... On attendrait un peu plus de progrès de ce coté pour un jeu sorti en 2018.
