Spam is great for emergency stores or as a fried breakfast meat. For occasionaly use only.

Not sure what is going on with these truly outrageous prices here on Amazon occasionally - but you'd better start checking things pretty close.

I bought this same item in May of 2012 for $16.32 or $2.68/12 oz can (added 9-14-12 - shipping was free with Amazon Prime). Price as I write this from BiceWholesale is now $29.46 or $4.91/12 oz can, an ~84% increase!

A local store (1200 person town) has it on sale at $2.97/12 oz can.

I've seen this happen before (someone tries to double or even triple the price) although my comment was thrown out by Amazon.com.

I NEVER ate SPAM until I read in Art Donovan's book "Fatso" about how he hid a case of it under his bed during basic training. The sergeant found it and asked Art what he was going to do with it. "Eat it!" said Art. "Well, eat it you will!" said the Sarge (or something like that) and I believe he gave Art a deadline to finish that whole case of SPAM. Well, Art ate and ate and went thru that case of SPAM, and in the process of doing so, "Fried SPAM" was mentioned.

Somehow, that whetted my appetite, and I went out and bought one TIN of SPAM -- cut a slice or two and fried it - noting that it sort of slid around in the pan on its own power -- (i.e., NO grease or shortening was needed). Eventualy I finished the tin, and felt like my innards were sliding around for a few days afterwards.

Was the SPAM good? YES!! Was it cloying? YES!

Would I buy it and fry it again? Maybe... in very thin slices, or maybe cook it (and drain it periodically) with pineapple -- because SPAM tastes GREAT!!!.

Thank you SPAM, Thank you Art Donovan!

I tasted it as a kid and hated SPAM. Now that I've decided to give it another try, it tastes so good to me. Maybe frying it made all the difference. It's so fragrant and juicy, and a bit salty but that's the way I like it. It's very good as a convenient fast food when there's not much food left in your fridge.

Who doesn't love spam? Hippies, that's who!

When i eat spam, on a burger, with rice, or all on it's own, I see it as a proclamation of victory over the dirty hippy hordes.

I regale in the salty deliciousness and laugh as i watch the less fortunate with their kale and tofu diets.

Each delectable bite is a fist held high on the mountain of omnivores!

Spam is like lobster. I love it in small amounts every once in a while but wouldn't want to eat it every day. I recently bought the 3 oz. pouches from Amazon at a good price and have it fried with eggs for breakfast. The pouches don't have an "jelly" stuff on it like opening a can of Spam.

I've been eating spam for decades and have yet to find the downside many people assert. I like it, in particular for sandwiches with mustard, pickles, and relish. It's also terrific diced with scrambled eggs, or fried and eaten with toast. It has a relatively high fat content, so it's not for someone with a fat phobia, but I've never believed calories from fat are any worse than calories from other sources. Exercise, eat moderately, and enjoy your spam if you like it.

Fry it in a skillet til it's browned (slice it first, obviously) then use with thousand island dressing or mayo in a sandwich.

YUMMY!

Dirt cheap, and better than anything! And it will store virtually forever!

so a little crazy... I got in the mood for Spam, had not had some in many years... find it here on Amazon for a great price... I guess i over bought...hehehe... I had enough to share with family.

What can I say... if you have had spam in your life and loved it... then get it... I could not say this is very healthy... but once a year can't hurt..

Enjoy... and be proud to love SPAM!!!!
