Well, this was a first for me-I was not able to finish this book. I stuck it out all the way to 75%, then just couldn't take it anymore. It was very disappointing, as I had put off finishing another book series to read this one since I had heard many good things about it. After getting as far as I did, I have to ask-did all those people even read the same book? Seriously. Where to start...

-Grammar and basic editing. When you can't even get the apostrophes right...and there were some words the author used that don't mean what I she must think they mean, mixed up words and missing words as well.
-Why are so many of the characters yelling, screaming and shrieking?
-No development of the characters; I found myself not really caring what was happening with any of them.
-The horrible things that happened in to Velaney in the past were introduced into the story very awkwardly, with bits of information peppered in here and there just randomly.
-The story does not flow well at all. The way it is written makes it sound very juvenile, from the things the characters say, the way they act and the way the story is told.
-There are so many unbelievable things-for starters, I don't know of any fire department that would let one of its firemen borrow a fire truck to take someone on a date (for what seemed like a good portion of the day too). And I've never, ever heard of a landlord giving someone a master key to all the apartments in a building just because he's a fireman (seriously-I mean, is he expecting a bunch of fires?). The attitudes , words and actions of Velaney and her parents in regards to Aiden, well the word "ridiculous" springs to mind.

I really struggled to put this one down and finished it within a day. I even took public transport to work so I could continue reading instead of driving! This is a highly recommended 5 star read.

Laney and Eric meet when Eric rescues her from a fire in their apartment block. They are instantly attracted to each other. However, due to Velaney's childhood she doesn't have the ability to interpret his actions for what they are and Eric doesn't know how to get his point across with an innocent like Velaney.

I fell in love with Velaney's character from the very beginning, it's hard not to. She's suffered through a horrendous childhood at the hands of her family members.
Her brother is a scum bag and her parents will do anything to protect their family image. Even if that means Velaney is left to suffer. She is plodding along through life when she meets Eric and starts experiencing feelings that she doesn't know what to do with and quite frankly scare her to death. I love the way her character develops and gains strength, trying to take back control of her life in the face of her past.

Eric, Eric, Eric. No you can't have him, he's mine! Seriously Eric is the type of bloke that when you see him walk towards you, your brain short circuits. He's fit, he's tattoo'd, he's pierced and to top it all he's a fireman! He can rescue me anytime. It's obvious from the start that Eric has a thing for Velaney but has never had the response from a woman that he's getting from her which is putting him off his game. I also love Eric's character development, he has the bad boy appearance but with a heart of gold.

I enjoyed this book until about half way through then realized that the author stopped writing a romance and started writing a fantasy. This book has such lapses in common sense it truly is crazy. To believe that her brother would get bail for breaking and entering, attacking her and eric plus they have evidence of her long term scaring and no one would tell her is lapse number one. Then he does it again with the help of a third party who knows he intends to kill Eric. Brother disappears after fight with Eric in ICU...does she tell the authorities?? Of course not. Even though Eric and Alex can back her up she says nothing and doesn't even seem scared that the psycho is out there. In fact, drives to her parents, who bailed him out, after all these years and is shocked that he is there. He had same fall as Eric and has no injuries and she stands with her pouty face. You then have to believe that her brother who is crazy and manipulates everyone is suddenly scared of his sister and her petite roommate and will leave them alone. You then should believe that she would rather jump on a plane to find Eric rather than calling...just so happen to find him in another state, just so happen to bump into him at a huge fire and then Aiden just so happens to be on the plane. Really?? I cant suspend reality for that long and enjoy a book that isn't supposed to be a fantasy. Have no desire to keep reading.

Adored this book! Overall Spark is a beautiful story that had my heart beating faster and me screaming in delight (and fear). Eric can save me any day! I fell in love wih the characters from page one. The writing is exceptional, the story flows perfectly from one sequence to the next.

Velaney, has been through the ringer pour thing! My heart ached for Velaney an her issues with Aiden tore my heart out with their realistic nature. I could feel her pain though the book, I Was scared with her. Screaming when Aiden attacked, and over the mood when Eric save her. I can't imagine what Aiden has on the parents, but I'm dying to learn more. I was actually relieved that they are equaly afraid of him because I was furious that they didn't believe her. Thank God for her best friend When they went to visit Aiden I was THRILLED and terrfied!

Eric a strong amazing, romantic firefighter. That would empty a fire hydrant trying tocoll you down from the hot flashes you'd have seeing him! He knows exactly what he wants and that is Velney, and literally chases her down. The intensity between the two of them is amzing. And when she sees him in New Mexico I was dying! The character development of Eric is good, although I don't totally get him. He is an amazing romantic with Velaney, and loves her. He says she saves him. But was he a playboy or ... just needing attention. I think since we never met a friend of his, we don't know him. I wish I knew why that blonde girl kept showing up...??
