Needed this to provide Dolby surround to my turtle beach headphones. With a Asus h97m board it was absolutely plug and play. If the bus isn't enabled you may have to flip it on and off through the bios but is exactly as advertised.

Came with additional connectors just in case your board isn't set up for it. So no worries

The sound depends on the motherbord, I have try in two computer and find out that pin out may be different from Board to Bard, also sound quality sligty change by one system to another... In general itis ok for my home theather, to play 3D BluRay movies from my PC using a 2D proyector on blue-red ( you need to find a suitable SW application for your system)

Warning: Could Fry Your Motherboard

I tried the one in the green picture, not the one with a circuit board printed Asus on it, the 3 pin connector, and my computer started to smell burning. Turned it off after about 6 seconds. Luckily, the digital optical/coax output module, motherboard, or optical audio cable did not fry all the way. You see, the connector on the module snapped right into place on my motherboard (MSI H61P21 B3). It only went in one way. Pin 1 on motherboard was the red wire on the connector (I assume the power pin). Fingers crossed, I pulled the connector, header on motherboard broke off with it accidentily, and reversed the connector and plugged it in motherboard. Now, the black wire on connector is Pin 1 on motherboard. Turned on computer and now I have sound coming out of all 5.1 speakers (via a/v receiver). You might have to modify the connector to get it to work!

They could have easily angled the pins so that it doesn't block the adjacent expansion slot when the wiring harnass header is attached. Also, the construction isn't exactly true to square so it doesn't quite line up flush with the slot on the back when the screw is tightened. It would be one thing if Asus were charging $5 for this, but for $15 they should have taken better care with the design and manufacturing. I'm a longtime fan of Asus. I suppose it's better to be let down by something like this than a motherboard or laptop.
