About the Author
I live in a small community in Colorado with my husband and several four-legged family members. I'm a disaster in the kitchen, a compulsive neat freak, and tea snob, a lover of board games, gardening, and painting. A healing love is at the heart of my book series because I live to write about everyday heroes. Creating wounded yet amazing characters--discovering what drives them, frightens them, heals them, makes them laugh--is what gives me joy.
Dave moved in, eying Kym like she was a piece a beef jerky he’d like to chew on for a while.
From where I was standing, looked like she gave adultery an exemplary try.
I get life is hard, but she’s let life corrode her. She reminds me of a bottle of drain cleaner—plastic on the outside and toxic on the inside—locked away until needed.
Hank bent his knees, paused, and released a robust fart, then walked into his office and closed the door clearly demonstrating his position on the matter.
You like me, and I like you… at the same time. Two people liking each other at the very same moment in time doesn’t happen very often.
I was immediately a fan of Kym from her introduction in Blinded, the first book in this sweet, steamy, and entertaining series. Kym was a loyal and caring friend as well as a hard working and responsible business owner. I enjoyed her feisty performance when meeting Zach’s cheating ex-girlfriend and former best friend. I hope Ms. Kelley tosses in frequent updates on Kym and Zach’s travels and adventures in her subsequent books.
I'm loving this well written series. After reading the first book, Blinded, I wanted to know more about Mara's friend, Kym. This book, Spurned, definitely showed how unselfish and loving their friendship is. Throw in another hunky man, Zach, both inside and out, and you have a recipe for success in this novella. I hope they pop up later in the series because I'm not finished with them yet. I can't wait to read book 3, Abandoned, of which I've already purchased. I'm hoping the murder mystery will continue there. The author takes us on a journey that allows us to know that we cannot fully live in the present without letting go of the hurts in our pasts. You just cannot go wrong with a Lyz Kelley book!
I'm loving this series and the author. Never hearing of her or her books before I saw Blended on BookBub or another site like it. It was the first book by this author that I read. I loved Kym and Zach's story, even tho I wish it had been longer and more developed from when they first met until Zach had to leave. We met Kym in book one and it seems fitting that book 2 is her story, especially since Mara was getting married. Again, the author did a wonderful job writing Kym and Zach's story.
I loved this second installment in the Elkridge series. Thank goodness for this novella to hold me over until the next full-length book comes out. I felt like I got to visit the town and some of it's characters again for a little while. I really related to Kym's difficulties with always having to be the one who takes care of things. Zach is the perfect match for her because he makes her start living a life she actually wants to live. Can't wait for more in this series so I can figure out who killed Sheriff Sam!
I received this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing an honest review. Kym runs the family nail salon after her mother, father, and sister packed up and moved to Vegas. Running a small business in a small town is a struggle. She meets Zach when her car will not start. He is in town giving a helping hand to an old friend who runs the local garage until his broken wrist heals. Both Zach and Kym have been spurned in past relationships making trust an issue.
Terrific second installment to the Elkridge series, which chronicles the mystery behind the murder of a town Sheriff over several books. Although this one only mentions the murder almost in passing, it does center on a strong secondary character from the first book. This is a romance, plain and simple. I truly enjoyed Kym and Zach's story and while I'm not sure where it all fits in, I look forward to seeing where it leads.
I absolutely loved Blinded and was missing the small town of Elkridge. I am definitely excited about this series! Spurned is a fantastic novella and perfect to hold me over until the next novel is here. This can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed this book and am excited for the next book! Sadly no mention of the murderer in this story. This is a wonderful love story. I recommend this for everyone and you all enjoy as much as I did!
Both Kym and Zach have been "spurned" in their relationships with other people. They have lost their sense of joy and the spontaneity that can often spark it. Trust is in short supply. But in this little gem of a novella, the main characters come to trust themselves and each other. They take their immediate attraction for each other and figure out what it is they really want in life. To build on their budding happiness the choices they make take courage and trust. I am looking forward to the rest of this lovely series.
