Devs have gotten too greedy. Just finished an anniversary with literally nothing for veterans. New units require $100s of dollars to be usable. Simply unacceptable when your game has abysmal drop rates. Only content in the game lately is boring grind. They skip units and events that the JP version gets for no discernible reason. Avoid, or do not spend.

Good Game Ruined By Managing Company

Day 1 launch player here, sharing their opinion of the past five years.

Over time this game has been fun in many an aspect, the events were fun, the music is some of the best in all of the FF series, the collabs have been nice (This GL version has had a lot of different/missed ones from the JP version for various reasons.)

But also over time, the managing company (Gumi SG) has gotten a lot worse in their decision making processes to the point of where almost all of the critical things that have made this a Final Fantasy entry has been completely abandoned:

Currently in the rush to the most recent tier of units (which is its own mess designed to encourage spending to use it to complete events. Sure the units are powerful in their own events, but unless they're anything but a dps, have quickly fallen out of an rapidly escalating power creep within even days of each other.) Gumi has forgotten all of the core aspects of what made FFBE special. This list includes:

9 months of story events (usually a monthly event) that explains who a character is and where they fit into the game's lore, opting to instead throw them onto a weekly banner randomly with no explanation as to who they even are, or abandoning them altogether (Search up Elnath as an example.)

8 series boss battles (a fight designed around an old favorite boss enemy, like Ultimecia as an example, all bosses from classic FF games.)

Dozens of older units who have either received current-tier evolutions or had them mishandled (Search Zile and Esther just to start the list.)

Many quality of life changes from the JP client were not brought over to this version, as well as bug fixes being ignored. (As an example, the "pvp" arena *it's not pvp like say Raid* has a bug where it'll send you back to the title screen instead of the main menu.) This bug has been around since before the 3rd anniversary of the game. This was noted as a bug by the development team, but over two years later has STILL NOT BEEN FIXED.

The GL playerbase will continue to BM about "Oh ffbe just copy/pastes all the stuff over from JP." It does not, it will copy paste over a majority of the bugs, add in additional ones with GL exclusive content, and most importantly, strips down rewards to the bare minimum needed to attract new players or incentivize keeping older ones. Wait...did I say wanting to keep the old players?

The third anniversary was the most special to us all, where all the players who've been playing since the beginning with summon tickets equal to our total login days, which while it had lower rates, was actually fun and said "We care about you and thank you for the years you've spent with us."

Instead we got 500 slot tokens for randomized rewards (not that random, the rates are mostly fixed to 7th place, see Slots De Nichol as a meme) that you have to use one at a time. No tickets or rewards for people who have stuck with the game for years, only a focus on returning players or new ones.

The biggest problem possibly however is how they've completely abandoned original or even reused content from the JP version in favor of limited time events where you must spend to keep up with the rankings of other people in order to gain progression through gear, but there's no content being added to the game that will use it other than more limited time events.

They've even taken player surveys of 6500 people, and during their live anniversary stream, whenever an answer came up, their responses were "Oh this is nice, sure!" to abject silenced horror and quick dismissals of several answers with no responses. They know what they're doing at this stage in the lifecycle.

Gumi Singapore does not care about player retention anymore, they've sacrificed so much of the core values they used to value years ago. Please be advised that while you should play this game, to not fall into the same cycle that so many before have, that spending your money here is a complete waste of your resources you could do several better things with in trying to revive the world's economy post pandemic.

The game is enjoyable and is definitely worth an install, the content is fun and drawing characters is exciting to see who you will get.

On the other hand the game feels buggy because I will be on a mission or loading into another screen when the game will crash.

Overall a solid three star card game that could get better if they address these issues I mentioned.

Game is great for new players but once you get to endgame there isn’t much to do. Developers spend more time on figuring out how to get players to spend more money than developing new content(which is sad considering most new content is taken from JP version). I’ve been playing it for over a year now and have have to update my friends list because so many old players quit

Incredible decline in quality over the last months. The developer skip over everything that brings joy to the players (skipping units, qol features and enhancing old units), brute force new units to sell and everything has become a buggy mess.
The game is on life support and will probably only run for one more year or two.

Been a player since day one and this is NOT a final fantasy game anymore, just a quick, buggy cash grab

Issues with the game is:

-A lot of bugs and it takes them several months to fix it. Most of them are still not fixed
-Players do not know how to gear their units
-Powercreeping
-People only care about the meta, rather than play just for fun
