I decided to try a new tact, and got the most expensive 8-speed chain, the PC-890, rather than the cheapest one. It starts off a bright nickel tone, which is a little flashy. But I've treated it (or mistreated it) identically to the PC830, and it's rust-free nearly a year later.
It's easy to install and the master link that come with the package make removing and installing it easy.
I really like the fact that I don't need tools to take of the chain. Now I can take it off while riding if I need to.
Cleaning is a breeze. In between rides I usually just wipe down the chain with a clean rag and if need be add a few drops of oil.
As far as sizing/cutting the chain I would suggest you look up some youtube videos. The whole process wasn't really clear to me after reading the accompanying instructions.
This chain actually shifts better and runs quieter.
The only downside is that the bulges (new in this model) make trimming on my friction shifting a bit more necessary.
It's worth it for the shifting improvement.
I'll start by saying that I purchased this chain so that I can pull the dirty chain off the bike and have one chain ready to go. My bike is a Hardtail MTB used on very dusty and sometimes very muddy trails. I'm not one to reuse master links and replace them after every change.
I would recommend a Park chain link tool and a Park master link tool if you intend to remove your chain for servicing more than once a year.

Great chain for Shimano XT 8 speed equipment. Shifts great and I like the power link much better than the pin that Shimano now uses.Published on August 16, 2014 by Steven Hageman
The chain arrived on time and was exactly as advertised. I am sold on the SRAM P-link. The last one I bought was a SRAM PC870-P and that lasted for two years and I commute to work... Read morePublished on January 9, 2014 by scott strasser
If you need a replacement chain for an 8 speed this is great. If you are replacing on a low end to medium end bike this is perfect. Make sure you have an 8-speed.Published on September 11, 2013 by LeKy411
