Probably the smoothest running road chain I have ever used and I am a former professional cyclist. Lightweight, smooth shifting, and strong. In word: like butter! (but less fattening)

I use a 90s-era mountainbike for commuting and other non-sporty cycling. Winter riding frequently results in the chain getting saturated with saltwater, and I don't always have a chance and frequently don't have the inclination to clean, dry and lube between messy rides. The previous chain, a SRAM PC830, took about a year to become extremely rusty. I oiled it and kept riding, enjoying the extra bit of homeliness it added to an already ugly bike. It finally rusted so badly that links began freezing up, causing the drivetrain to skip.

I decided to try a new tact, and got the most expensive 8-speed chain, the PC-890, rather than the cheapest one. It starts off a bright nickel tone, which is a little flashy. But I've treated it (or mistreated it) identically to the PC830, and it's rust-free nearly a year later.

Really like this chain.
It's easy to install and the master link that come with the package make removing and installing it easy.
I really like the fact that I don't need tools to take of the chain. Now I can take it off while riding if I need to.

Cleaning is a breeze. In between rides I usually just wipe down the chain with a clean rag and if need be add a few drops of oil.

As far as sizing/cutting the chain I would suggest you look up some youtube videos. The whole process wasn't really clear to me after reading the accompanying instructions.

I was worried about a successor chain to my faithful PC68 nickel plated SRAMs.

This chain actually shifts better and runs quieter.

The only downside is that the bulges (new in this model) make trimming on my friction shifting a bit more necessary.

It's worth it for the shifting improvement.

Great chain!

How does one review a chain?
I'll start by saying that I purchased this chain so that I can pull the dirty chain off the bike and have one chain ready to go. My bike is a Hardtail MTB used on very dusty and sometimes very muddy trails. I'm not one to reuse master links and replace them after every change.
I would recommend a Park chain link tool and a Park master link tool if you intend to remove your chain for servicing more than once a year.

I purchased this chain for my single speed 29er that I also use for winter commuting. The addition of nickel plating should prove valuable for corrosion resistance next winter. It was easy to install.

This chain is probably one of the best 8 speed chains out there that I have used. I simply clean it with a brush after each ride and put one drop of dry lube on each link and let it dry. These things seems to last forever when you treat them right.

I run magic gear on my IGH setup. Previous chains stretched quickly, but this one has held up very well over the past several months. 5 stars.
