Bought 32oz bottle thinking I that would use this for the next ten years. Once I get it, I read the fine print on the bottle which states that it is no good 2 years after opening. WHAT? Evidently STA-BIL is not long term stable itself. Didn't see this mentioned or I would have bought the smallest container necessary. Maybe this will still work ten years after opening but that's the uncertainty I was trying to eliminate by getting it.

This stuff works. I put this in the fuel tank of a car that I love that had a blown head gasket and needed a rebuild. Life got in the way and my wife and I bought a new house and had a baby, so the car project was put off for three years. I added STA-BIL to the fuel tank and after just under three years I wasn't optimistic that it would start, but happily it fired up after turning over just a little more than normal.

I'm a satisfied customer and the car is going to be trailered off for a re-build and we don't have to push it on and off the trailer. I've had other cars that sat for less time but needed the fuel tank to be drained and filter replaced before they would start. I hope I don't have another car sit for quite this long, but if it is a possibility I will be adding STA-BIL.

Remarkable stuff, I've used Sta-Bil for many years now with zero problems. If memory serves. I think the company states the additive will keep the gasoline stable for a year maybe? I recently had four full five gallon gas cans in reserve for my emergency generator for when the electric goes out for an extended period of time. Several years ago the power was out for almost two weeks due to a long line of severe storms and tornado activity. I don't need to tell you the importance quality fuel when you absolutely have to have it.

Anyway, other than my lawn mower and weed whip, I have diesel vehicles and tractor so don't use much gasoline. I got lazy and didn't rotate my stored gas for over "four" years! I remember doubling the recommended amount of Sta-Bil because I know myself and would probably forget to rotate my stored gas. I finally got around to rotating it and thought "what the heck" and filled up my generator to see if it was still good or not?

It fired up the first pull and I ran it for an hour. Dumped the rest of the gasoline into a buddies car for a free fill up and it didn't lose any noticeable octane.

This is the cheapest lawn mower insurance you can buy. Put Sta-Bil in your lawnmower gas tank and fill it with gasoline. Start the mower and run it for 5 minutes. turn the mower off. Put it away for the winter. If it is a mower with a battery, connect a battery float charger (trickle charger) to the battery. Nest spring, When you turn the key or pull the rope, the mower will start without a whimper. THIS STUFF REALLY WORKS AND IT WORKS WONDERFULLY !!! If you do not do the above I will guarantee that come spring, you will be calling the lawn mower repair service. This goes for tillers, generators, weed eaters and everything that runs on gasoline or diesel fuel. Gas spoils, just like milk. Gas with alcohol is especially bad to gum up the works. Virtually all gasoline sole today has alcohol in it. When gas spoils it gums up your fuel lines and fuel injectors or carburetors. When this happens the engine will not start. Sta-Bil prevents the gas from spoiling. It stabilizes the gasoline. NOTHING WORKS BETTER. I do this every fall and have no problems starting my equipment in the spring. I put Sta-Bil in a Ford truck that I parked for TWO YEARS. When I decided to donate the truck to charity, I put a new battery in it and it fired right up. Do yourself a favor and use Sta-Bil...

Always add sta-bil to my gas cans before filling them so all the gas in all my equipment always has sta-bil in it. You never know when something's gonna end up sitting longer than expected. And I don't believe modern gas lasts as long as it used to. Another good practice is if the machine has a fuel shutoff get in the habit of turning off the fuel shutoff and running the gas out of the carb when you put stuff away. If it doesn't have a fuel shutoff put one on it. No gas sitting in the carb = no gummed up carb. Sta-bil and fuel shutoffs and I can't even remember the last time anything of mine wouldn't start from a gummed up carb... the only exception being the occasional odd 2 stroke piece usually with some stupid diaphragm carb. My generator or snowblower sit for almost a year and start 2nd pull and run like a dream. Zero turn and tractors fire right up after sitting all winter.

Hard to review an item that you sort of need several months to test. If you're storing fuel inside machinery (ie. lawn mower, vehicle, snow blower, etc), and you're storing for more than 5-6 months, you should mix the stabilizer in the tank. This prevents the fuel from going bad and gunking up your engine. I've used this brand for many years, with no problems. Has always helped me. However, I made this particular purchase due to a good price per ounce. So, high marks for the item, that I've used many times in the past. High marks for Amazon's good price and prompt delivery. And, high marks because I'm just plain satisfied.
