Stanley Battery Charger/Maintainers
Quick and Easy Trickle/Maintainer
Stanley's battery maintainers are the ideal choice for charging batteries when your not in a rush and don't want to worry about waiting for your batteries to finish charging. These powerful 1.5 or 8 amp chargers were specifically designed with your busy lifestyle in mind. You can simply leave the charger plugged into your batteries, with three different attachments for charging, and forget about it. The BC209 and BC8S will automatically charge your battery to full charge and can be left on continuously until you are ready to unplug with no worry of damage to your battery or the charger.
Whether you have a car, truck, boat, motorcycle, RV, lawn tractor, or any other vehicle with a 12 volt battery, simply hook the Black & Decker charger / maintainer up to the battery (you have three choices on how to do this) and plug it in and walk away. It does all the thinking for you. It’s the perfect choice when the last thing you want to think about is your battery.
Both the BC209 and the BC8S are perfect for having in areas outside your house, such as the garage, a tool shed, or an external shop. It has been equipped with a sealed and conformal coated to protect against moisture, corrosion, dust and oil and with its foldable hanging hook and dual mounting bracket they can both be easily mounted anywhere there is a power source.
- 1.5 or 8 amp charger / maintainer
- Sealed for protection against moisture, dust and oil
- Mounting brackets
One of three ways to connect to your battery for charging or maintaining. Easily connects directly to the positive and negative terminals on your battery.
A more secure way to connect to your battery if you are charging it for an extended period of time, like during the off season or permanently installed on your motorcycle.
If you prefer to charge / maintain your battery from inside your vehicle this is a great option. Simply use the DC plug with your vehicle’s accessory outlet. No touching your battery means your hands stay clean!
Indoor and Outdoor Charging
With the battery clamps these charges can be used to charge your batteries whether they are still connected to your vehicles or if they have been removed. You can charge your batteries right inside your garage or office space with ease and the BC209 and BC8S automatically compensates for lower voltage caused by extension cords.
Because the BC209 and the BC8S are also considered a trickle charger, it is the perfect choice for charging your motorcycle battery when not on a ride. The included O-rings can be left on your motorcycle's battery terminals and when you pull into your garage you can plug it right in, ensuring you never wake to a dead battery again before that morning ride.

Don't really recommend it if you need a "rapid charging device"...It took a while to charge the battery the first time, 8A mode took 20+ hours, and the battery had moderate charge. However once the voltage was steady and fully charged, it switched into maintenance mode as expected and has kept the battery at a constant "fully charged" 13.2v since.
This looks like a great product for keeping a battery fully charged and healthy when it's not used regularly - I would definitely recommend.
First thing what I got was not new it was used , remanufactured with no warranty!!!!!!
I would have been ok if I was told about it being remanufactured. The shipping was bad the box looks like its 3 years old; the unit I got does not look like the 8 amp in the photo. The DC cord only has a 5amp fuse, so don’t think that will work out with an 8 amp charger. The O-Rings cable is ok at best. The clamps are the only thing good about this. Let talk about cooling, fan in the unit does work but if you move the charge sometimes the fan sounds like its hitting something.
Will be sending it back if I can.
What was listed on the site when I placed my order, what the one looks like I got, and in the book that shows no warranty
This is ABSOLUTELY NOT "fully automatic" in any way, shape, or form. In order to use this charger, you need to turn it on and select the charge rate. Yes, it's only one button to press a few times, but that is NOT "fully automatic".
A fully automatic charger just works. You plug it into power and it starts charging. No turning it on. No selecting charge rates. No pressing buttons. It's fully automatic!
Not this charger! If you plug it in attached to a battery it sits there, powered off not doing anything.
I needed an 8A fully automatic charger for my application. This does not work for it, but I've been making due. Several times I've had a COMPLETELY dead battery because the SLIGHTEST power blip will turn the charger off. And guess what? Since it's not automatic, it stays off!
Fatmax is a polarity protection unit with 2 amp / 8 amp trickle / fast charging option. The up side of a charger of this weight and size to provide a trickle / fast charge option should be mentioned. The older competitor10 amp charger I used for years is heavy generates heat and hums and poses concern for leaving long term unattended. Used Fatmax several times worked perfectly to charge a car battery, mower battery, marine battery, battery for electric winch & gel motorcycle battery. This product reigns over the 3 times the price product called Battery Untender. Unlike the Green Battery Untender that gets stuck in 6 volt mode and needs a battery to have a minimum of 3 volts before it will charge a battery. Contacted the Green Battery Untender folks and they are full of excuses and knowingly keep putting this product in the market. Hook up the Fatmax"s quality terminal clamps to your battery decide on 2 / 8 amp option press charge button and your set. The Green Battery Untender is headed to the garbage as one never knows if it will wig out and charge a battery. Normally not a fan of Stanley products however this one delivered. Also this product has roots in SWFL and have not experienced any negative traits of other reviewers. My Fatmax unit is similar in size to other revirwers posted picturess however different in color to which maybe a updated model. Would recommended the Fatmax and repurchase again. Check the competition you will be satisfied and save green money by not purchasing the Green Battery Untender.
-versatile due to 1.5 Amp rating
-multiple charging leads included
-magnet and hook for mounting
-adequate (but not excessive) cord length
-no "brick" on end of cord
-makes clicking noises when charging
I have previously owned several Battery Tender 021-0123 Battery Tender Junior 12V Battery Charger, which I have used for batteries on motorcycles, scooters, go-karts, boats, trolling motors and lawn mowers. I also have used it to charge dead car batteries (in a pinch). I ordered this Battery Maintainer for a motorcycle which I charge between uses as well as during winter storage.
Compared to the Battery Tender Junior, this unit has twice the capacity (1.5 Amp vs. 0.75 Amp), which is likely overkill for charging a motorcycle battery but great for decreasing charge times when used on trolling motor batteries, or other batteries that get drained down in use and require actual charging (as opposed to maintenance charging). This Stanley Battery Maintainer has a standard two prong plug, which is much easier to use than the "brick" design of the Battery Tender Junior (I've broken them when the "brick" hits the ground after being yanked off the wall). There are two things of the Battery Tender Junior that I prefer over this Stanley unit:
1) Noise - the Stanley unit makes clicking noises when it charges, and I've never noticed noise from the Battery Tender Junior
2) Status - the Battery Tender Junior has an LED (Green or Red) which does various things to show the status, and there is a key on the top which shows what the various things mean (flashing, vs. solid, etc.). The Stanley Battery Maintainer has two different LEDs, but you need to refer to the manual to know what they mean.
Top international reviews
magnetic back for attaching to car
12V, clamp and o-ring charging
very long cables
sealed and rubberized case
clear charging/maintaining indicator
(green battery blinks when charging, solid when maintaining)
no straps to bundle long cables (solved with velcro straps from Canadian Tire)
no baggy for various connectors (solved with baggy from Walmart)
This unit serves me well. I use it mostly to keep my Stanley Jumpstarter charged.
On the weekends to top up the battery level... until the following day, it has not disappoint me so far.
