This is my second unit. Ive had the first one for over 6 years. (It still works and holds a decent charge) I recently was doing some research on all of these types of jump start units. After reviewing many I found this model really out shines all of them. We had a storm this year that knocked out our power for a solid week. This was also the first time I had lost power since I was put on a CPAP machine. Without using my CPAP humidifier it more than handled the work load with a good nights sleep along with a small fan. If you compare 1400 Peak/700 Instant Amps, 500W Inverter to anything else out there for the price you can't beat it. Many of these solar chargers also claim to have a lot of power. But for the price of this unit you can charge one USB device, it has two Inverter outlets , an air compressor , a light and jumper cables. I imagine you could also use the 500W inverter and just attach a power USB charge adapter to charge multiple devices.The only thing that is different is they no longer supply the 12 Volt charging cable or a regular mini 110v cable. Both which are required to recharge the unit. The last time I was without power I would use during the evening and then drive around during the day and recharge in my car on my way to work the next day and then charge at my office via standard outlet. The power generators can charge via solar however you need several (5+)hours of decent sun to do so. If you lose power in winter this may NOT be an option.If you need something to just make you feel safe, offer a little light or a fan and the basic amenities I highly recommend these. They are not light so it may affect your gas mileage but also good to have in the trunk in case of roadside ER. I have them set on a smart table with other battery type units on a smart outlet that powers on and tops off the charge every 30 days to keep the batteries fresh.

The only thing that is different is they no longer supply the 12 Volt charging cable or a regular mini 110v cable. Both which are required to recharge the unit. The last time I was without power I would use during the evening and then drive around during the day and recharge in my car on my way to work the next day and then charge at my office via standard outlet. The power generators can charge via solar however you need several (5+)hours of decent sun to do so. If you lose power in winter this may NOT be an option.
If you need something to just make you feel safe, offer a little light or a fan and the basic amenities I highly recommend these. They are not light so it may affect your gas mileage but also good to have in the trunk in case of roadside ER.
