I just received this powder and I haven't tried it yet, but I wanted to point out that the country of origin (COO) marked on the two packs I bought is China. That isn't necessarily bad of course, but my experience tells me to trust the quality of foodstuffs from Germany more than those from China, and if I'd known in advance that this item was from China I would have looked elsewhere.

Actually, looking closely at the image of the package in the Amazon listing the COO for that one is Bulgaria, so it appears that Starwest get this product from multiple sources. Again, that's not necessarily a problem, but the description shouldn't declare the COO as Germany.

Updated on 8th February 2014
I see that the COO is listed as China rather than Germany now (although the photo still indicates Bulgaria), so the description is more accurate than before. Having used more than a pound of this product so far I can say that I'm happy with the taste, solubility in water, etc. However I'll be trying beet powder from a different source when the time comes to re-order.

Not only that, but when i was ordering it description was misleading, the origin was "Germany". I provided review and complained about it but my comment was deleted by moderator instead. Nice, keep up good work.

I started taking beet powder to increase my iron levels and help with anemia. I added to my tea or smoothies. Blends well.

This is the first batch I've bought of this product. Being produced in Germany i expected it to be good and it did not disappoint. It is finely ground, blends easily in liquids to make smoothies, shakes, etc. i put it on top of FF Greek yogurt for a healthy treat. Definitely recommend

I've been taking US made organic beet root powder for hypertension. The local stuff seems to be made from sugar beets and tastes ok. Be advised that this one tastes very strongly of regular beets (which I hate). So, if you enjoy vegetable beets this is probably ok; if not get the other variety. Also, the packaging does not close very well and the fine beet powder tends to spray all over when you open it.

Read an article about beet root powder helping with pre-hypertension so I now add a teaspoon of it to my morning juice every day. First couple days, I wasn't used to the taste, but after a few weeks, it now tastes good to me. Product is a very good product and I will be refilling often.

I won't need to buy red food coloring for a long time. We use it in hummingbird feeders because they really do like red despite what "experts" say. However, I might believe the experts that we should not be giving the birds nasty chemicals contained in most colorings. If I ever make chocolate cake, I will be sure to use some of this as sugar to get that fancy red color kids like lately.

Well I'll just be frank and say that I'm using this product for the nitrate content in it. I have also seen literature online that suggests that beetroot also help you process oxygen more efficiently. I can't be scientific about those claims but it does seem to help anecdotally.
