OK! Now. I purchased a new headboard and this frame DOES NOT fit!! The hole are the right height, but the width is not right. Could be why the box spring fit so tightly. Another quarter of an inch or less would have made this fit correctly. I am in the process of returning the frame. So, please double check your measurements.
Amazon's return policy is great. I got an RMA to return the frame. UPS brought a prepaid lable and picked the box up the next day. That evening I received an email from Amazon letting me know that my return has been processed. This is why I like to buy from Amazon.
I read so many good reviews but none of the bad until after I bought it. My husband and I are not small people in any sense of the word. I warned him about sitting on the end of the bed because it may bend the frame. Our kids also end up in our bed most nights, which would be almost 750 lbs total. I will update my review after a couple of months.
Make sure that when you connect the cross-pieces you separate them as much as possible - only then will you have any hope of fitting your box spring.
Also, one of the wheels that you can lock came bent out of shape, also fixed with a little effort.
The frame as a whole doesn't roll very nicely (mostly because there are pegs in the middle instead of wheels), but it is still better than the wheel-less alternative.
All in all, I paid around $60 for a decent frame that functions, which is 4-stars in my opinion. Would be 5 if the wheels worked better and the box spring fit easier/without modifications.
It rolls easily, and I love the lock feature on 2 of the casters. The reason for the 4 stars is that the outer middle legs (not the center support) don't touch the ground when the casters are in place. I double checked that everything was pushed in snug, so not sure what the issue is there. Ended up putting those plastic carpet protector things for furniture legs under those feet and it seemed to take care of it. Or you could use washers to take up the gap and use a longer screw.
I don't have a foundation for my mattress, and this sits very low. Also, with no foundation (not necessary with today's mattresses, from what I've read basically everywhere), I chose to go buy a sheet of plywood to size for the base of the bed, to provide support. Otherwise, I could feel where the bar wasn't, as I was sinking into the bed & it was squishing through the frame toward the floor. Not cool, but it was an easy fix.
