The case that I normally purchase for all of my cell phones is the Otterbox. I searched frantically online only to find out, they did not make an otterbox case for my phone. After getting over the heartache of that, I went to searching for anything that could help protect my brand new phone while I was out of state and until the otterbox hopefully came out for one.
I came across this Unicorn beetle case and was very skeptical.
It looked like it wrapped the phone as well as an Otterbox, but it didnt have the same name behind it is what I think my main concern was. After reading several good and bad reviews on this case, I decided that I would try it out.
When it arrived, there were few instructions that came with it, but it felt and looked decently sturdy.
I was impressed with not only how easy it was to put on and take off, unlike an otterbox, but how well protected it felt. Of course, with any case such as this, it does make the phone thicker, but it still fits fine into my pocket, car cubbie and things such as that.
My phone has been dropped several times from about 4 feet off the ground onto concrete and tile without causing any scratches, breaks or issues. The case is easy to clean and doesn't effect the sensitivity of the cell phone touch screen as far as I have been able to tell. The signal doesn't seem to be bothered by the case either as I have the same signal with the case off as I do with it on.The case doesn't grip the surface it is on as well as the otterbox does, but it has not effected my usage one way or the other. The case does not effect either of the cameras photo quality.
Some of the negative comments I read had mentioned a rainbow on the screen of this Unicorn Beetle case after you put it on the phone and say they have to take the case off and on to fix it. I have not had one issue with this rainbow affect while using my phone. I have occasionally seen this rainbow a handful of times when my phone screen is off and dirty/oily from usage but is easily fixed by wiping the screen without having to take the case off.
I would definitely recommend this case to a friend, the price was well worth what the case has achieved for me so far. All of my expectations were not only met, but exceeded with this case and it is one I would purchase in the future for other phones if available.
It was a chore to get the bezel out of the shell without a phone, and it was even more difficult to get it together. It will not pop apart. You'll break the phone before the case comes apart.
I took a razor blade and cut out the screen protector. It makes sensitivity much less responsive, and holds any dust and dirt that does manage to get under it. Just buy a fitted quality tempered glass screen protector instead. It'll sandwich over it without issue.
Front is raised all around edges almost 3/16".
Camera lense is tucked away too.
The dust flaps for charge and aux aren't soft and pliable. I'll update if those begin to stress Crack and split. They do lock in tight though.
I'd given it another star if it had a 3rd pc soft body glove to finish encasing the phone, especially the corners or anything raised to prevent sliding.
Update after 1week
The case front bezel piece covers some of the touch screen, except the extreme edges of the actual image display/touch area. This causes issues when trying to hit the captive buttons or pulling down the status bar. You really need to tediously and carefully touch the extreme edge of the screen, which is right up on the edge of the screen protector. The front top is cut out for the camera lense, speaker, and Led light.
An inconvenience I'll take for having more of the glass protected, as a lot of other cases don't cover so much extra of the glass front. But If you have seriously thick fingers or calloused fingers tips, expect a few attempts. Also since I'm unlocked and running LineageOS, I have the ability to enable NAV bar buttons and disable the factory captive, so there are options.
Had an otterbox defender for my htc8 because i lead a pretty active lifestyle and don't want to worry if i drop my phone while taking pictures while hiking for example. I was very sad to see that there is no otterbox case for the htc 10. And tried in vain to find a car that offered an equivalent level of protection until i found this. I love this case it is perfect for my needs and my phone is still pristine after several drops. I don't know if it offers better protection than my otterbox did but i certainly like it more than i liked my otterbox and i feel very safe that my phone is just as protected as my last one was in its otterbox, possibly more so. My favorite feature of this case is that the plastic (or whatever the material is) screen protecter is actually attached to the front piece of the case so you don't have air bubbles trapped against the screen and you don't have to go through the nuisance of carefully laying the screen protector on, which no matter how carefully it's done seems to always end up with air bubbles anyway.
The case consists of two pieces. The back piece and the front piece, which also has a clear screen cover. You need both pieces because the phone will slip out of the back cover of the front isn't on.
The main problem is you can't use the back button on the HTC 10. That's kind of important when surfing the web.
The clear case is also problematic because it triggers the touch screen because it's such a bad fit.
Even if you take the clear case out as one review suggested, you still can't use the back button.

I have dropped my phone (accidentally) 10 or more times since I first bought this product - my phone remains entirely undamaged, so it has fulfilled it's purpose very well.
I strognly recommend you remove the plastic sheet which acts as an inbuilt screen protector - this reduces the sensitivity of your screen and in my opinion is not entirely clear - slightly dulling the image. The latter effect is only very slight if anything though.
Overall a goo product I would recommend
The second was that you can't fit the phone into the holster with the screen facing out which is more a design problem.
Aside from the two little things above its great and would recommend if you are looking for a protective case for your HTC 10
