Alright, I have seen a lot of reviews about the device changing the way the controller unit functions (not the remote the controller itself). After several days of hunting for a solution, I found one buried in the deep-web.

The controller is cheaply made but not OMG shatter in your hand cheap. The remote control is substandard but not much worse than the remotes you get with car head units. The internal welds on the control unit are well done but this is where the problem starts.

The controller was designed by someone that knew the workers in the factory (or the machine putting these things together) would not properly spot the cables correctly. So the programmer that designed the units firmware to 'soft change' which pin does what. As you can see in the photo the pins on the board are labeled RGB but the wires are welded as BGR (another unit I have welded GRB). To correct for the improperly welded wires the unit can be 'reset' to cycle the control of each color.

Turn the unit off but LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN to both the dc power unit and the strip. Repeatedly tap the bottom right FADE 7 button on the remote; it will cause the strip to flash once per tap. Each flash is the cycle of the RGB rearranging itself. Tap it two to three times then turn the strip on. Check to see if the RGB buttons on the remote are correct. If not, turn the unit off and tap-tap-tap again. Check it again... repeat repeat repeat... until they are correct.

I have a VIZIO tv with a remote that the volume-up mimics the command of the fade button if the whole command isn't seen by the controllers IR eye. Other devices (Brite-View media player, Vizio TV, Sony BD Player, and Charter Cable Box) remotes cause interference too. Slightly annoying but the volume on the TV is the only one that changes the soft set of the RGB buttons. Go figure.

I hope this helps if anyone has a unit that is scrambled or if you receive one that isn't working correctly.

REVIEW ON THE IR 20 KEY REMOTE/CONTROLLER

This product came with no instruction booklet, so after messing around with it my findings are below.

REMOTE KEY FUNCTIONS:
-Brightness up/down - Most importantly, these 2 buttons functions change dependent upon what mode your in
>Any single color mode - Brightness up/down
>Jump 3, Jump 7, Fade 3, Fade 7 - Changes how quickly the colors change (brightness up = faster, brightness down = slower)
>Music Mode 1, 2, 3, and 4 - Adjusts the sensitivity of the microphone. When you are in music mode brightness up = more sensitive microphone, brightness down = less sensitive microphone. There is NO indication given that you're changing anything when you're in music mode and you press brightness up/down. However, in order to tell you're changing it is to have music playing, switch to any music mode, and then press your brightness up/down multiple times. You'll immediately notice your LED lights become much more or less responsive based upon your input. I've tested this multiple times and works every time, the only thing I've noticed is it seems you have to have music playing when you're adjusting the sensitivity of the mic. So, if you try pausing the sound and pressing your brightness up/down button, it seems nothing changes. However, if you press your brightness up/down key while the music is playing (and you're in a music mode) you'll notice an immediate change in the light's reaction to sound.
-I'm really surprised they don't describe this great feature on this as I've seen many reviewers believe the mic is static and cannot be adjusted.

- ( VIDEO ) -

-The video posted shows the lighting effect before and after adjusting the microphone setting. I have the microphone about 3 inches away from a 7.

Bought one of this controllers, hooked everything up (arrows lining up), only blue leds will light up. Reversed the connector, they won't light up. Finally reversed polarity on power jack, they lighted up fine. So in short, everything has to be hooked up the wrong way for it to work. Well, it worked fine for 2 months, now remote controll will send wrong commands (power on/off will turn leds blue, red will be green, blue will be yellow, etc). I have a spare kit, changed the controller box and it's working fine again. Let's see how long the second box will last.

Blue and green switched.
Before re-soldering the wires, read the review called "Fixing the wrong RGB associations" posted on 11/19/2014.
I have bought 2 of these now, about 6 months ago for the first and have been using it constant for almost the entire time. its on a dim mix (purple), which different colors blink faster or slower to achieve brightness. I was concerned that this blinking would make the electronics wear out but the have not.
I recently bought another controller for a different project and the blue and green were backwards. I considered simply re-soldering the wires, but found this review and quicker than I could dig my soldering iron out of the tool box I had the coloring fixed. Thanks guy who posted the review with instructions.
Basically, while lights are lit, turn the remote power off, then press fade7. The strip will blink once. Turn the remote back on and test coloring. Keep doing this 1 press at a time until the r,g,b buttons match red, green, blue.
