These Philips lights are definitely brighter than my OE Philips LL lights (LL for long life I believe), and OE sylvania on my truck. the 9005 is 5 watt higher claimed wattage and the H11 is the same. But don't be fooled by the label. They ARE BRIGHTER!
Some people said it's just an "illusion" the higher color temperature gave you. OK. So I set my camera to Manual, with the exact same ISO, shutter speed, Aperture, etc within each comparison group (may differ between groups for better image). i.e. for each low beam, high beam comparison, they are shoot from the exact same position with same settings on the same evening. And you can see that the crystal Vision ultra and ZXE are brighter. Not as bright as Xenon or LED maybe, but better than OEM.
I have been tossed in between Philips and ZXE. They performs well on both, ZXE seems brighter out of the box. But I was sold to the Philips longer claimed lifetime. and you can see from the comparison to my truck, which has ZXE bulb on, and was taken 2 days later. The Philips on the Escape is whiter. I still like the ZXE tho. just thinking to upgrade to LED when ZXE went out.
Reminder: Please wear latex gloves when changing your bulbs. If you touch the glass area of the bulb with your bare hands, the natural oils from your skin will ruin the bulb and may cause it to die out prematurely making your purchase way too expensive. Enjoy & take care.
9/24/12 UPDATE: On my suspicions that there might be some loss of light, I found it to be negative. The appearance of light loss only came into play when driving in a very well lit area. I tested this issue by re-installing the SilverStar Ultra bulbs and even went as far as re-installing the OEM bulbs. In my opinion, the Sylvania zXe bulbs still performed best. Just wanted to let you know. Take care.
12/8/13 UPDATE: Sylvania zXe's are still burning strong. Also, on many occasions I've been getting oncoming drivers flashing their high-beams at me as we pass each other. Apparently this is proof that the zXe's are extremely bright because oncoming drivers think I have my high-beams on when I don't. I've had to flash them back to say like... hey man.. I'm low-beaming here.
I've never experienced this phenomenon with the OEM's or the Ultra's. Except for the occasional good buddy warning me of Law Enforcement in the area. Just wanted to keep you guys & gals informed. Take care.
5/27/14 UPDATE: Well it finally happened. One of the bulbs pooped out on me so you know what that means. Time for replacements. I installed the old OEM's temporarily and boy let me tell you, I don't miss that hideous yellow tint. Ugly as hell. So I'm doing my research for my next set of bulbs. I'll let you know which ones I choose. Who knows, I may just buy these zXe's again. Catch you later.
bought these to replace factory bulbs in my 2013 Prius V. the install took 10 min, most of that was to find and unhook the old bulbs.
but I don't really see a big difference with them vs what I already had. its better, but not super great.
It seems pretty bright but it has no blue light output at all, but it gives the housing a blue tint/reflection.
Honestly for the same price, you can get LED headlight bulbs that are much brighter and more white.
