Lets just hope they last for a while.
You can compare the new zXe bulbs on the top to the original bulbs on the bottom in my picture. (Top ones are headlights with zXe bulbs, bottoms are fog lights with original bulbs. The headlights used to be the same exact yellowish color as the foglights)
Yes, I worry about those things.
Anyway, design is exactly H7 here and fits precisely. Light quality is really rather good - they aren't going to be mistaken for the lights in a football stadium, but certainly very appropriate for night driving with better illumination (in my opinion) than stock.
Now for longevity. I get about a year out of them. Frankly, for me this is a non-issue, since the lights are very easy to swap and the price is certainly approachable. I stop short of calling these "high performance" but I do think they perform better than stock and give a whiter, almost LED-like light. These will NOT be mistaken for true LED though, but for applications (like mine) where one doesn't want to bother with an all-out conversion these are certainly reasonable substitutes.
This is my second set of these and I have zero problem using these lights going forward.
These provided good lighting, but lasted on only 1 year and 5 monthsg. I have never had any headlamp bulb fail so soon (except for an old sealed bean that was hit by a rock, no damage on this one). I had purchased a 2 pack for $35, so I checked the buy it again and now it shows $55 (although it looks like there are other suppliers that are closer to my original price). I just want to see well at night, but not have to keep replacing bulbs.
I will do more research this time to find something that is more durable.
(I own a 2003 Grand Marquis) theres only so much you can do to get a better bulb before you have to go to an HID kit to get that new car brightness. Yeah HIDs for the most part wont be DOT legal, but I grew tired of the mess of having to replace harnesses or failing ballasts to keep them bright lights running. I suppose these ZxE lights would look fine in a newer model (2010 and up) because i'm sure theres more power being pushed through the headlight connectors with a better electrical system. So I can't sit here and trash them completely because I don't own a newer vehicle, so I speak on my setup and on my setup, for almost 60 bucks, these are pretty lackluster. It was about being able to get a bulb to fit my OEM housings and I could seal it with the oem dustcaps and keep the elements out to prevent light bulbs blowing out. So the trade off is that I am able to get a much even level of light out onto the road ahead of me and not having to guess with having to angle HiDs inside of headlight assemblies and guessing how they will project properly on the road without blinding people. That is time consuming because I try to make the projection of light as evenly and perfect as possible.
So back to THIS PRODUCT: They aren't as clear white looking at the front of the vehicle as advertised, there is a yellow tint to them, but they do a good job at illumination. However, if you were thinking (like I did based on reading the description) there was going to be some sort of HID experience right out of the box that didn't require ballasts and harnesses, you need to look at LED bulbs with fanless motors or going HID. Once you spend a few years with HID and trying to go back to lights that will meet DOT standards and follow the law, you learn there is no going back to normal bulbs. So sadly, I feel as if I have wasted the money here. Again, on a newer vehicle with an upgraded electrical system it might be possible to get the bulbs to project brighter and more to the description to the company. But I down own a newer car. So your experience may vary.
