Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini, and Billy have just become the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. They’ve also just started high school. Chronicling their formative days as teen heroes, the Rangers will have to balance the responsibilities of growing up with defending the world from the threat of Rita Repulsa. And she has a plan to defeat the Power Rangers. One they’ll never see coming, because it’ll come from one of their own.

Written by Ryan Parrott (Star Trek: Manisfest Destiny, Saban’s Power Rangers: Aftershock) and illustrated by Eisner Award-winner Dan Mora (Klaus).

About the Author

Ryan Parrott was born in Bakersfield, California, but spent the majority of his youth growing up in Las Vegas. Unlike many modern filmmakers, Ryan didn't immediately gravitate towards the medium, enrolling instead in the art program at the University of Nevada, Reno. But after being exposed to an abundance of new digital formats, he soon discovered that all his art projects shared a similar theme: Film. Transferring to Chapman University in the fall of 2000, Ryan hoped to make an immediate impact within the intimate film studies program. His first project, Ride, was the recipient of numerous awards and screened in over a dozen film festivals around the world, including the 2005 Cannes International Film Festival. His success didn't diminish as he wrote and collaborated on How to Cover-up the Death of your Best Friend, which received the award for best undergraduate film and culminated in producing and co-writing the short horror film, Husk, an official selection of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. Upon graduation, Ryan directed his first feature film, Loaded, a low-budget independent action drama for Bulletproof Productions. After a short theatrical release, the film was distributed worldwide by Westlake Entertainment.

Dan Mora is an artist whose work includes Buffyverse comics from Boom! Studios.

I FINALLY got to read Go Go Power Rangers! It seems like it took forever for this collected volume to come out. Through social media I've heard about this ongoing series a lot, especially leading up to the big event, SHATTERED GRID.

This series takes place really early in these teens' time as rangers. The stories focus more on their personal lives than fighting Rita and her goons. I really liked the focus on each character. There's added background for one-off episode traits from the tv series. Trini's fear for heights is mentioned. Zach has hesitations about Jason being a leader. Jason's obsession with karate has a reasoning. "Skull and Bones" was probably my favorite added backstory.

The three rules of being a ranger are given more time. There's just more overall depth about their initial exploration of their new powers. I liked seeing how Rita learned of their true identities.

The rangers' second mission is to the moon. Having read the 1969 story, I know Zordon was anxious.

I finally got to meet Matthew, the other friend! I'm very interested in how his story continues.

I'm impressed by this series. I am very excited to continue reading it. Parrott brings a realistic drama to the over-the-top story. I give this first volume in the ongoing Go Go Power Rangers series a 5/5.

I pre-ordered this back in May after i started reading the Mighty Morphin Series and heard of the tie-ins this will have to Shattered Grid later on. I couldn't wait to catch up and read the adventures and personalities Boom Comics gave our heroes. As the weeks ticked by, my anticipation grew for its arrival. I couldn't wait for this to reach my front door. However when I got home, my heart sank when I didn't see the package at my front door step and my heart was crushed when I found it folded and shoved into my mailbox because of the soft packaging. As I opened my package to assessed the damage, I knew it wouldn't be the same. Bent as an S shape magazine with a stiff crease mark across the red ranger helmet on the cover, my heart as a fan and customer was just disappointed. I still gave it 5 stars because the storyline, art work, and detail was still amazing, but with other pre-ordered comics in the wings (Next mighty morphin book and go go #2. I don't know if I want them to suffer damage as I just received.)
