I do not recommend this item. I used it only once and was very careful using only a wooden spoon. After the pot cooled I washed it by hand and the enamel on the bottom of the inside of the pot started to come off!!

I recently purchased this cast iron dutch oven. The outside color is a happy energetic red. It is porcelain -lined in white. The first thing I cooked in it was spagetti sauce. It cooked evenly and stayed warm far beyond the time it was served. I loved being able to take it right off the stove and put it on the table using a trivet to protect the table top. It is heavy, but I feel like a chef when I use it. I had no problem with chipping. It cleaned up easily and quickly. The only negative I have is that my finger got stuck in the opening of the handle when I lifted the pot for the first time. No harm was done. It might be a good idea to used pot holders whenever lifting the pot. I'm very happy with this dutch oven. It's a perfect size. There are only two in my household, but the pot will easily cook one-pot meals enough for a family of 4-6. I also like the fact that because the oven is porcelain -lined, it needs no "seasoning" or oiling before use. I'm enjoying this dutch oven. There are many recipies that recommend using one. There are also recipe books galore on Amazon that can help you learn many ways to use a dutch oven. I bought my son a dutch oven for his wedding and sent along a book to help him get started. He's the cook in his family. Before he even thanked me for it, he had it "seasoned" and ready to go.I'm sure we'll be trading ideas on how to use this pot for many years to come. Happy cooking!

I bought this pan to bake bread in. The concept is fairly new, I believe, but it works just great. I get a fantastic loaf of bread every time. I am anxious to try it to make sauce in and for slow stovetop cooking as well. Cleans up like a dream.
It is very heavy but that's what is required for the bread baking. Would highly recommend it. Here's the site for the bread recipe:

This product is not durable. I followed all care and cleaning instructions. After about 4 months andabout a dozen uses I noticed a slight crack in the bottom, in the enamel. Then I used it to sautee meatballs and athe paint started coming off in flakes. I saved what meatbals I could and trashed it. I can return but at my expense and it is very heave and then I would get a partial refund. Hardly woth my time and expense.
