This set has the perfect assortment for outfitting a vacation rental property with all the kitchen accessories most vacationing cooks would require--and at a reasonable price. First, a stainless-steel utensil holder comes filled with nine essential stovetop utensils--a serving spoon, a slotted spoon, a skimmer, a spaghetti server, a soup ladle, a small slotted spatula, a large slotted spatula, a slotted turner, and a serving fork. All utensils are made of a durable plastic that is heat-safe up to 210 degrees Celsius and safe for use on nonstick and stainless-steel cookware surfaces. For baking, this kit packs a set of four stainless-steel graduated measuring cups in 1/4, -1/2-, 3/4-, and 1-cup sizes and stainless-steel measuring spoons in sizes of ¼-, ½-, and 1 teaspoon and 1 tablespoon. Finally, this kit includes a 20-piece knife set from Sabatiers Precision line of knives. The set includes an 8-inch chefs knife, an 8-inch bread knife, an 8-inch slicer, an 8-inch filleting knife, a 6-inch boning knife, a 6-inch cleaver, a 5-inch utility knife, a 3-1/2-inch parer, eight 5-1/2-inch steak knives, a 6-inch fork, kitchen shears, and a sharpening steel to keep edges honed. All pieces fit in the accompanying 19-slot wooden knife block.
Made in China, Precision knives are more affordable than some of Sabatiers other French-made knives; however, the same care is taken to ensure quality craftsmanship. The blades are made of high-carbon stainless steel that are hollow-ground for easier sharpening and edge retention. Full tangs provide excellent balance when cutting and are triple-riveted to the germ-resistant polymer handle. Handwashing is recommended for proper maintenance of the blade and a lifetime limited warranty covers defects in materials and craftsmanship. --Cristina Vaamonde

The balance is not bad, considering the price. They are not hard to handle, but they do "feel" cheap. They were not sharp, so I got the important ones sharpened right away (chef, slicer, utility, paring).
My one big complaint is that they rust very quickly. The way we treat the knives I expected some rust but these are ridiculous. I end up giving them a CLR bath once a month to keep it under control. Just be aware of it.
In short I recommend this to somebody who A) Has little money B) Needs nearly a full set of kitchen tools and C) Doesn't want to or know how to, correctly treat knives. If you fall into all three this is the set for you. Just don't pay more than $25 for it.
While I believe this is a quality set, at the current price point, it is not the value it once was so be sure to compare purchasing a knife and utensil set separately. But these are well made and would look good in just about any kitchen.
When the set arrived I was disappointed to see the box I knew immediately this was going to be a cheap set of knives. (Well I guess for $30 I can expect $30 worth of quality, I would have rather paid only $19 like some other reviewers.)
I opened the box and saw how very nice the set was. I was happily surprised. I have been doing my best to keep each knife clean and dry after use.
I come home to do the dishes and BAM! there it was the one lonely knife left in the sink, rusted. I was very disappointed. While I still have many other knives, I wanted to keep this set looking nice.
So a word to the wise for future buyers of this knife set. While it looks like a great buy, it is, but you will need to take very good care of these unless you want another cheap looking set of knives.
I have been using these knives and accessories for 6 months now. I absolutely feel I got a great deal. The knives are sharp, sturdy and very nice looking.
Yes, the knives will rust if left in water for too long. However, I have found a cure for this. I had some unsightly rust spots on a few of my steak knives and on the paring knife. I took a Brillo pad and scrubbed the knives down. The rust spots are now gone. Leaving my set looking good as new.
I have found uses for the measuring cups which I enjoy using. Also for some of the utensils that came with this set.
I have become very happy with this puchase!
I don't think the blades are tempered (they bend), and they definitely do not hold an edge. Real crappola!
