I was able to plug in 3 portable HDDs before overloading the port so for more intensive workloads get a powered hub. **UPDATE**
My computer has been randomly making the sounds associated with USB devices being connected/disconnected, and I have never been able to pinpoint the cause. It turns out that this device is generating driver errors within Windows 10, and delving deeper into Windows health reports shows that there has always been a problem with the driver for this device. I have never been able to get a driver downloaded and installed for this device successfully. I have therefore deducted 3 stars from my initial review. The device is well-made and rugged enough, but it is not fit for purpose on my Windows 10 machine. It appears to connect and disconnect itself at will, and causes conflicts with other USB connected devices. It has now been permanently removed and replaced with a USB expansion card, which in hindsight, I wish I had done in the first place.

I needed a multi-usb port for several led lights used in Lego sets. This little device ID perfect when you need to expand the number of usb ports, each port has an on-off switch which is a great feature most rivals didn't have. It is small, well built and a great price too!!

One thing to note, several people have given a low score because there is a limit to the power available so it is not suitable for say multiple hard drives. This is clearly pointed out in the description and is NOT a fault of the product, This is true with any similar device. To power things like hard drives you need a POWERED usb port.
Don't downgrade a great product simply because you can't read the product description and buy something inappropriate to your needs!!

I Purchased this to switch on/off my drawing tablet when not in use without having to unplug it each time and found that it works well. I also found it to be small and unobtrusive so it sits on my pull out desk working surface without taking up virtually any space at all. I also like it because it has the ports on the side as opposed to the top as with others, this allows my sliding work shelf to pull out without snagging any cables that are plugged into the ports. The size is 84mm length x 32mm depth x 14mm high Approx. The only slight downside is that when the switches are activated the blue led tends to illuminate the button next to it a tiny amount, but saying that it’s no big deal breaker. I chose this USB 2.0 option as opposed to the slightly more expensive USB 3.0 option as the web page states the USB 3.0 version can interfere with Bluetooth devices that are close by and as my bluetooth keyboard is next to it then the USB 2 was the better option. There is a power socket on the end if the ports do need to be powered.

I purchased this unit as I have some older devices which do not seem to operate well when plugged into USB 3 ports (USB soundcard, label printer, webcam). My laptop dock only have 1x USB 2.0 port and a number of USB 3 ports, so I needed a hub.

The hub arrived in a nice and modest packaging, well padded.

Upon unpacking it, it was the matter of plugging the USB hub's cable into my dock. The 20-25 cm cable attached to the dock is enough to place the dock to a convenient place. After that, I plugged the USB devices into the hub. The each of hub's USB ports has a little switch one can use to toggle the operation of that particular port and therefore the device's connected to that port. When the port is turned on, a blue light comes on around the switch.

I had no trouble connecting and operation USB devices off the hub. Everything worked as expected.

The hub has a small power inlet to power the hub for more power hungry USB devices. However, no PSU was supplied. It would be nice to have a note about this feature should anyone consider feeding the hub from an external power source. The note should include the PSU specification (voltage, current, etc) or reference where it could be purchased from.

Overall it is great little device, it does everything one can expect from such a device. The build of the device is as sturdy as it needed be. The pricing is reasonable too. I can recommend this unit to anyone who wants a few more USB 2.0 ports added to their computers.
