Update: Sabrent reached out to me since my device was still under warranty when I did this review. just in that simple act of great customer service I have went from 1 start to 4. They never lost site of quality after the sale and did the right thing. Yes my design flaws still play a part in my mind, but when you have awesome customer service to back up your commitment of your product line, you have earn my respect and more future business with my new iPhone 6s to come. Thank you once again Sabrent!
This case does charge your iPhone without the "device not approved" warning however, you have to use a special adapter (it is included) to use your headphone jack while it is in this case. Also the case is made from cheap plastic. The cover to secure your phone into place never really feels secure and when the cover isn't connected, it feels that it could break because it's so flimsy.
It comes with a microUSB cable for charging the case and the phone. When your phone is not full, it will charge the phone first then charge the case when iPhone gets to 100%. Tip: This is common to many electronic devices. When your phone gets close to 100%, says 95%, it takes more effort to get to a full charge. It is a good idea to charge your case separately so it charges faster. But if you have time and likes simple convenience, you can just leave it plugged altogether.
Remaining battery can be checked by pressing the button on the back. The 4 LEDs correspond to 25% each. A full charge will show all 4 LEDs lit up. For added convenience, the case has a folding kickstand which can be useful if you are watching movies.

The case is easy to use in terms of getting the iPhone in and out. The battery portion of the case is like an additional back panel on the phone, so you just have to plug the phone onto the lightning plug on the lower edge of the case. You then clip on one of the side protectors (one is black, the other clear) to lock the phone onto the case. The side protector has all the necessary cutouts for ports and buttons, and everything is accessible. The only thing that isn't fully accessible when using the case is the headphone jack, but Sabrent handles that by including a short extension cord that plugs into the jack and offers a plug-in port that sits outside the case.
As for power, I was able to get a bit more than a full additional charge from the case when I was recharging. The recharging takes a bit more than 1% per minute, so to fully recharge from zero it took around 110 minutes. However, you shouldn't need to let your phone get down that far, as you can just top off the power by turning on the battery case via the button on the back side. There's a micro-USB port on the side of the case, so you can leave the phone in the case and charge both using that method. As you'd expect, having the battery built into the phone case does add weight and bulk to the phone.Read more ›

This case is fine, though fitment is a bit rough. It likes to loosen up after going in and out of the pocket. Still, for extra energy it's a decent solution.Published 19 months ago by erkelbot
