My HP LaserJet 1100 is reliable and inexpensive to run. My computers no longer have the parallel port it requires. This cable adapter was the perfect solution. I simply plugged my printer cable into the adapter cable, and the adapter cable into my USB port - worked the first time with no messing around. Windows is a bit quirky, though. You must plug the adapter cable consistently into the same USB for the printer to be recognized.

This was exactly what I needed to hook my 4 year old HP printer (w/parallel port) to my new laptop (which came with Windows Vista, and no parallel port). The product comes with a disc to install the drivers needed (but my printer is so awesome, I didn't need to use it.) I just plugged it in and it printed. This is perfect!

After the computer I had for 14 years crashed I had to purchase a new one. My old printer still works and I had a few new cartridges. Yet my printer would not fit in my new desktop and local stores did not carry any adapter. (They kept telling me I had to purchase a new printer.) After searching online I learned there was a parallel printer cable that could work and I found it only on amazon. I had to go online to get a driver from the manufacturer. Voila! I'm back to printing again.

I ordered this adapter cable after my old Dell desktop, with a 25 pin printer port, died. My Samsung laptop, running Windows 8, does not have a 25 pin port, so I could no longer use my LaserJet 1200 printer. I was skeptical that this cable would work, but to my surprise, it works perfectly. At first, the LaserJet printer did not appear when I displayed my devices and printers, but it seems you need to have your computer set to automatically receive Windows updates, so when you turn on your computer and printer, the needed software is automatically downloaded. Anyway, once the LaserJet printer appeared, I just set that as my default printer and it has worked fine ever since.

Talk about a technology quantum leap! A surprise need as the legacy Pentax thermal printer I just bought new in the box had a parallel port cable. Oddly both this and the mating cable have hold down screws neither of which are long enough to engage in the mating piece [would require removal of one set were they long enough] making the anchoring screws totally useless. Fit is tight so so far no problem with the cable coming loose. Works fine with the legacy version of the Pentax thermal printer I just bought. Quality seems fine.

Driver CD does not support Windows 7 but a quick response from Sabrent tech support showed me how to install effortlessly on Windows 7. Unfortunately, the connection failed after about 10 minutes and would not re-install on the same USB port. Installed on a different USB port with the same results-- success then failure after about 10 minutes. A computer tech friend advised me that he has had little luck with any of the USB-Parallel port adaptors. Recommendation: install a parallel port on an open PCI slot on your computer. This adaptor works for some people but in my case it didn't. At a low price it may be worth a gamble. Decide with caution.
