This enclosure is a perfect match for the Samsung 850 EVO mSATA 1TB drive! It's about as small as an mSATA enclosure can get, and is solid. It even ships with an inexpensive (but workable) screwdriver.

I had the Samsung drive mounted & formatted in less than three minutes. Dragging nearly a TB of photos onto it took a bit longer, though.

I ran Blackmagicdesign's Disk Speed Test on the Samsung drive. The attached image shows the results.

Everything about this little mSATA adapter is pretty cool except for the fact that it doesn't work with my USB 3 ports! I have current generation Dell XPS 8700 SE and this mSATA adapter just keeps connecting and disconnecting. It seems to work ok when connected to a USB 2 port, but that's not why I bought it!

The construction is good and my old and new mSATA drives fit firmly in place.

I am inclined to send it back unless someone tells me a way to get it to work reliably with USB 3. (Hint: Sabrent, please let me know if I'm missing something here! )

UPDATE: 2015-11-08 - Well, Sabrent sent a new unit to me. Thanks, Sabrent. As it turns out, I now think I know the root cause of the issue. it seems that the USB 3 cable that they sent out with my original unit was incapable of establishing and maintaining the USB 3 connection. They sent a different cable with the newer unit and it now works fine. I also tried it out with a similar cable I had from some USB 3 2 1/2 inch backup drives (the kind with the combined data/power cable) and it worked just fine. So, if you look at the pictures below, the thicker cable (on the left) is the new one that works. The thinner cable (on the right) is the one that does not work. I hope this helps!

Got a bad unit from the start. Same issue many others have seen with intermittent connects and disconnects. Tried on 3 different computers and 2 different mSata drives with same results. Both mSata drives work fine as swapping out a lower capacity mSata to higher capacity in the computer and wanted to use this for the old drive. Neither worked in this enclosure. A little more stable with USB2 connection than USB3 so clearly something wrong with the unit.

Sending back and going to try a different enclosure from another manufacturer.

Absolutely fantastic. I wanted to build a super-portable USB WWAN card and this worked perfectly.
With a few modifications, I was able to get a full size type-A male USB connector to fit through the front end and two antennas through the back.

2x "Mini PCIe Wifi Antenna Kit 3Dbi RP-SMA Antenna + 20cm U.fl/IPEX to Bulkhead RP-SMA Pigtail"
1x "Sabrent USB 3.0 mSATA II or III/6G SSD Enclosure Adapter [Support UASP] (EC-UKMS)"
1x "6in USB 2.0 Extension Adapter Cable A to A - M/F"
1x "Sierra Wireless AirPrime MC7355"

I used a MC7355 aircard with this WWAN to USB card, used a dremel to shave down some of the PCB to make it fit with the antennas and inside of the sabrent case. Everything is a little nice a snug inside of the sabrent case. I'm also using a 6" USB cable to ensure that the card doesn't sit uneasily on the desk or wherever I have it.

Functionality: The case is made with a good quality aluminum, keeps my WWAN card very cool. Has a slight issue with keeping a mSATA card cool. I tested the mSATA component with a Samsung 1TB mSATA SSD and a 256GB Intel mSATA SSD. Good transfer speeds, almost as good as native connectivity with a SATAIII capable card. Is great for very fast, very small, and extremely portable file sharing and mSATA drive diagnosis.

Works for very small transfers, but soon becomes too hot to touch when doing any transfers that last longer than a minute, e.g. during backups. Adapter overheats which causes thermal shutdown of the internal SSD. Terrible design. I'm guessing that the onboard USB to SSD adapter is cheap and is overheating.

I must have received a defective version. The USB would connect and disconnect from the computer every few seconds, sometimes a few times in a second. I was using a USB 2.0 port - but that should only limit the speed, not the compatibility.
I bought a Apricorn mSATA Wire Enclosure and had great luck with it.

My experience with this product was not good. Item worked for one day then quit. Something inside the connection board was loose, I guess, and the drive would not make contact. If I moved it it would connect and then disconnect straight away. So I had to return it. Outer construction being brush black aluminum had a good solid feel to it, although it did rattle a bit, I thought this would make a good drive. I suppose I was one of the unlucky ones who got a bad one.

This product worked well enough to clone my old mSATA SSD to a new one, but when I try to stream any kind of data from it, it *constantly* disconnects and reconnects. I had hoped to use it to host a virtual machine on the old SSD, but the VM would crash with a disk read failure every time within a couple minutes. I've run VMs from other USB-attached storage on this machine, so I'm pretty confident it's the controller in this enclosure. It also runs hot under any load, as others have stated.
