This is a great CD(album)by Mr.Ronnie James Dio. Not as dark as some of his other stuff and for that some people will poo,poo this outing by Dio. I guess mainly for the doing Hungry for Heaven for the movie soundtrack of Vision Quest. I think the song is heavy and sorta chunky. So I kind of dig it. The songs that rock the best in my opinion are Another Lie,Rock 'n' Roll Children,Fallen Angels and Shoot,Shoot. I almost fogot Just Another Day is rockin' song too. If I had to categorize this album it would be in the Heavy Metal group. Its not speed metal or death metal and that's just fine. So if your looking for so kickin old school Hard Rock/Heavy Metal this is your album.

Excellent remaster and brought back awesome memories (I saw the Sacred Heart tour in '85 with Rough Cutt). I see a lot of folks rating this disc down with "Softer than.." "Not as good as.." and I just don't get it. Holy Diver & Last In Line were killer, without a doubt, but I don't mind a little variety. Dio was/is a God to metal. I loved the original Sacred Heart when it came out and bought Intermission back then as well. This remaster with the Intermission tracks included was too good for me to pass up.

I should have given this 5 stars simply for throwing in the non-album track "Hide In The Rainbow" and the entire "Intermission" E.P. but as a whole the original album doesn't hold up as well in points as the ones that came before it or after it. Still, this is classic Heavy Metal from the greatest unsung musical hero of all time. Opening with "King of Rock and Roll" (a KILLER opener) and then segueing into the title track, you can tell that this was Dio trying to stretch out a bit more in terms of commerciality which isn't entirely a bad thing. Guitarist Vivian Campbell seemed to think so by calling this record a "pile of poo" which isn't fair. Dio as a band was anything if not consistent during the 80's and this is a solid buy. The bonus stuff is killer since you get the aforementioned E.P. and non album track. The E.P. is a live one with new guitarist Craig Goldy and features a brand new studio track with "Time To Burn". Also of note, keyboardist Claude Schnell really gets a bigger chance to shine on this one and is a full band member so the sonic pallet on the band grew with his touches on songs such as "Rock and Roll Children" and "Fallen Angels". Get it for the original album and get it for the bonus stuff. R.I.P. Ronnie!

Spesso leggo che quest’album non sarebbe degno dei suoi predecessori e che sarebbe un lavoro di passaggio, l’anello debole della discografia. Non potrei essere più in disaccordo e proprio non capisco come si faccia a non amare questo lavoro. Succede a due capolavori, chi lo mette in dubbio, ma trovo che anche quest’album sia intriso di ispirazione. Spesso si dice che il suo punto debole sia la mancanza di pezzi memorabili, ma per me lo sono pezzi come Rock and Roll Children, Sacred Heart, King of Rock and Roll e anche la notoriamente poco amata Hungry for Heaven. Probabilmente la forte presenza di modi maggiori lo rende un lavoro poco digeribile dal tipico recensore metal di metà anni ‘80, ma oggi il disco andrebbe rivalutato. Io all’epoca avevo 10 anni, mi arrivò in una cassetta registrata ed era il mio primo approccio ad un album dei Dio, di cui conoscevo solo Rainbow in the Dark. Ero forse un po’ ingenuo, ma ho amato quell’album dal primo ascolto, nonostante le grandi aspettative, e negli anni non ho mai rinnegato quell’adorazione. Da avere a tutti i costi,se amate i Dio e Ronnie.
