The expansion feature is nice. I can carry plastic gallon jugs and a few other things with little sag, and they hold their shape when empty. I think they will hold up for a while if they don't get exposed to too much bad weather. They are not huge but anything else I need to carry I'll just strap to the back seat with a bungee net.
