Featuring a contoured wooden handle, the Safari Cat Shedding Comb reduces shedding for longhaired and shorthaired cats. Smooth, rounded teeth ensure the cat's comfort. The long teeth penetrate deep into the cat's fur lifting the loose hair. The short teeth collect released hair from the upper layers, leaving a clean, soft coat. Be sure to comb areas behind the ears, base of tail, under legs and the abdomen, which can easily mat. For best results, groom longhaired cats daily and shorthaired cats at least once per week.

The item I got (pictured) has one short tooth per long, and they are spaced as widely apart as the teeth on a comb for human hair. The comb might still have some purchase with a long-haired cat, but on a short-haired cat you have to brush at a very low angle – pretty much flat against the skin – and still it picks up next to nothing. Your mileage may vary, but I found this comb useless. Regardless, the photo should represent the product, and this does not.
The teeth on the comb are blunt, which I like because I have been afraid of the combs I've had in the past hurting any of my cats if they moved around during grooming. The staggered design of the teeth also did a surprisingly good job of getting an absurd amount of hair from my cat in a short, short time. Check out the pictures. Yeah, that would have ended up all over my couch, clothes and pretty much everywhere else. That only represented about 5 minute of grooming, too.
My cat loves this brush, and he doesn't shy away from it as he has other brushes in the past. Now, when he sees me grab it, he immediately comes up to me and starts rolling around for the brushing to commence. And he has no problem letting me groom him until completion, as he has in the past.
If you have a long haired cat, this brush is for you.
This is great if you have a cat that doesn't tolerate long grooming sessions. You achieve a lot in a very short time and then can let your cat go about his/her business.
NOTE: I purchased this after watching an expert cat grooming video that said the tool of choice for grooming cats to remove their loose hair IS a shedding comb, not a slicker brush. The brush is just the first step for cats with longer hair that might get matted or knotted. My cat has medium length, thick hair, but it never gets matted or knotted; so the comb is the best choice to reduce shedding throughout the house and on furniture.
Very glad I purchased it. I give her treats while I am combing so she's focused on her treats while I comb.
