Featuring a New easy grip plastic handle, our Safari Wire Pin Dog Brush is excellent for general grooming. The Pin Brush helps to lift out loose hair and debris. Brushing distributes natural oils, leaving a shiny, healthy coat. If the coat tends to be heavily matted, a Safari comb, rake, or slicker can be used to break up the mats. The Wire Pin Dog Brush can also be used to fluff the coat by brushing against the direction of hair growth.

5 Months of use!
I have been using this brush for the last 5 months on my 2 Shih Tzu puppies and I really can't say enough good things! I use a conditioning spray first and then use this brush and it works out most of the tangles without hurting the girls! Grooming has become a very peaceful time! The girls are now 8 months old and still in full coat, so this brush has been great! Would highly recommend for any long haired dogs.
(I am not sure how such a brush works on short hair dogs. I suspect it is easier.) It is much more common to find a brush with balls on the ends than not. Also, compared to the Vellus, of the same total length, the pins are somewhat shorter.
I had hoped to find a cheaper version of Christiansen or Vellus, but alas, this is not it. The pin balls pull the hair and annoy the long hair dogs. Aside frm that the brush is not junky, seems reasonably well made for the money.
**Update: I have just started using this brush on the neck, shoulders and chest of a longhaired intact Belgian girl who is ready to shed, and it worked quite well for pulling up undercoat. As the pins have balls you have to use short flip strokes, but it does get the job done pretty well without hurting, raking the shoulder points or skin. So it does have a use! However, spayed dogs with more cottony coats catch in these balls and there is some protest from the pulling,
Update: Still love this brush. Bought another because we lost ours (left at the vet) and the other similar brush we were using afterwards just didn't cut it. The replacement just arrived in the mail and 5 minutes later the brush is already full of fur, my cat thinks he's died and gone to heaven, and he looks so beautiful...
Love love love this brush. Bought the size large for my big Maine coon mix rescue that I adopted near the end of May. He was so full of mats. I didn't get this brush until I had already gotten most of the mats out. Scissors, unfortunately, and a sanitary shave at the vet. The "mat remover" I bought just pulled his fur and hurt him. However, on the two mats we have had to remove since then, this is the way to go. It somehow removes the mats with so much less pulling. I don't know.
Besides the mat thing, I use this brush every single day to brush my baby. My kitty LOVES to be brushed and this is his very favorite brush. Sometimes he will go up to the brush and rub up against it as if he is brushing himself. It gets all the way down through his thick fur.
In the first few days after I received the brush, one of the pins fell out. I was worried more would follow, but that hasn't happened, so I'm happy.
I would recommend this brush to others.
