I was pleasantly surprised to find this Safco desk.
It came well packed and included all the necessary hardware including a wrench and allan wrench.
It actually arrived almost a week ahead of the estimated delivery date.
The condition was perfect.
Instructions were easy (make sure you pay attention to the detail of the legs orientation).
You can adjust the height of the desk top.
You can adjust the height of the keyboard tray.
You can adjust the height of the CPU shelf on the bottom.
I placed a 24" monitor on the desk top which gives me plenty of room for speakers, papers, etc also on the desk top. The construction is so solid and well built you can easily attach a computer monitor arm fully articulated giving you even more room for items on top of the desk top.
The keyboard tray is large enough for both regular size keyboard and mouse with lots of room to spare.
Very nicely finished giving a luxury look to it.
This is a quality product, solidly built, looks great-like a piece of furniture rather than a cheap place to put your computer. I highly recommend it for those reasons and excellent price.
That said, for a desk, this is a very good quality desk.
The quality of the boards is excellent and the whole framework is durable and well made. I'm always suspicious about eveything that is made in the orient because there is so much cheap stuff coming from China but this was made in Taiwan and is of a different quality than mainland China stuff.
If you purchase this desk you'll be glad you did. It's worth it and quite attractive. I got the cherry color and it looks rich and sleek. I need to pat myself on the shoulder for making a good choice!
Today I spent nearly 90 minutes putting it together, and find I'm more disappointed in the build quality and fit, than I ever expected to be. I'm not new to putting these sorts of things together, and I can follow directions and use tools. Despite this, the desk I received was easy to set-up 'until' Step 5 when the 'left and right slides' were installed, and then it was a bear!
Screws that were too big for the holes in the metal, didn't go all the way in despite a power screwdriver. The slides themselves were tight and tough to move even before installation. Directions overall are mainly by diagram with corresponding letters to a list of parts; fairly easy to understand, but could be much clearer by adding alphabetical stickers to the parts within each package too.
Time will tell if this desk can be durable with daily use, despite the poor fit of the keyboard tray.
What I like:
+ The look of the desk is clean, with ample desktop to accommodate a dual monitor set-up, large monitor (32" or so) or a 21" with desk supplies.
+ The desktop is adjustable, bringing your monitor height to the appropriate ergonomic level.
+ The keyboard tray is nearly as wide and deep as the desktop, and it's adjustable.
+ The bottom shelf is adjustable; the same width and depth as the keyboard tray.
+ The metal frame is substantial and feels durable.
What I didn't like:
- The keyboard tray slides I received were stiff and no smooth action can be achieved. Good in one sense; it won't move around. Bad in another; it won't move past a certain point, and still has space to go further.Read more ›
Unfortunately, the assembly instructions are ALL pictorial -- a few words would have made them MUCH easier to follow.
Also, the word "adjustable" suggests to me that it can be easily adjusted after assembly. That is not the case. You would have to disassemble and reassemble at least the shelving to change the height. Still, for the price, this is quite a good desk and I'm not sorry I bought it.

It was exactly what I expected. The gray sides are of a plastic, but that is fine with me. The desk is very solid and functional. Great product.Published 15 months ago by Deborah Heile
