I cannot say enough good things about this manual. It's simply the best of both worlds (good scientific info meets street-cred-quality writing). It's down to earth, precise, clear, and comprehensive. If you've thought of it, its probably here - and there are probably more than a few things you haven't thought of.
It's not a step-by-step of 'how to do it,' as one other reviewer noted, but rather a comprehensive explanation of the dangers, safety precautions, and ramifications involved in BDSM activity.
I'm looking forward to a future edition with updates, but so far as I know this is the best, most easily available material for anyone wanting both a broad view of the topic and an intelligent discussion about important concerns and considerations.
Highly recommend this to anyone in to BDSM (or those who want to know more about it).

On the Safe Edge: A Manual for SM Play
Read it carefully and keep it to hand for future reference. My hard copy is well read and has been lent to many friends.
VERY thoroughly researched; a great labor of love (in many senses of that expression). More than worth the investment.
If i was a Dom, i'd order you to buy it; As a sub, i say please buy it ... you won't regret it.
