Mechanic Dair Epping never expected to spend a week sharing a bed with his adorkable friend, however pretending to be bi is easier than he imagined. He knows he’ll do anything to keep Robin safe from his ex-boyfriend, but as the chemistry between them grows, the line between fake and reality begins to blur.
Could Dair actually be bi? Even if he was, would an ex-Marine really be interested in a computer geek like Robin? When his ex’s intentions turn dangerous, how far will Dair go to protect the man he’s falling for?
Book One in Pine Cove. Safe Harbor is a steamy, standalone MM romance novel with a guaranteed HEA and absolutely no cliffhanger.

Robin is a successful software designer who suffers from a self image problem. Dare is a former Marine, current mechanic who moves in with Robin and his friend Peyton. He is looking for a sense of be,ongoing he’s been missing since his break up and since leaving the Marines.
When Robin has to go home for his ten year class reunion and Peyton suggests Dare go with him as his fake boyfriend to keep Robin’s ex away Dare agrees hoping it will bring he and Robin closer as friends. Robin is nursing a big crush on Dare so while he agrees he’s worried.
As always happens with this trope things progress from fake to real and it is a very sweet journey. I loved Robin’s family and friends in Pine Cove. The story element with the ex is an interesting peek into some of Robin’s issues. The crisis moment is gut clenching and the resolution is wonderful. I loved the book’s ending and it makes me look forward to the next books even more.
The narration by Nick J. Russo was quite good. He has a habit of pronouncing the word "hardly" as "heartily," but beyond that, it felt totally real.
I've already downloaded the next book. :)
Review: These are 2 sweet heroes! They are both relatable and their chemistry is great. Each of the heroes learns to embrace his assets and that they are each strong, but vulnerable. The story is solid. The pacing is good. The author has made both heroes and their relationship totally relatable.
Robin and Dair have all kinds of connection and they will steam up your kindle in the best way. This book really was about emotional intimacy and how attraction plays a role in that becoming romantic love. This book was just good for my soul as the main characters really take care of each other and learn more about themselves as they do. The characters are not perfect and i love that their flaws bring them closer together.
This is the first book in the Pine Cove series and i cannot wait for the next book!

Robin and Dair are so sweet with each other. Their friendship was solid, and how the cared for each other evident. It was easy to see how they developed deeper feelings to the point where a little push saw their relationship evolve.
There is the whole 'miscommunication/lack of communication' trope going on though, and Mac definitely plays on both of their insecurities, which he couldn't have done if they'd just talked and been honest with each other. I can see how their lack of confidence played into that though, so thankfully they had some great family and friends around them to set them back on track.
I would recommend this as an easy beach read/lazy Sunday read. It can easily be read in one sitting, but isn't too short or rushed either. I'm looking forward to other books in this series.

Robin the gay computer nerd and Dair, straight ex-soldier, now car mechanic.
They live with Peyton, a nurse, and Dair's pets in a shared flat. When Robin's twin brother invites him to high school reunion, Robin doesn't want to take part first.
He's afraid to meet his violent ex-boyfriend.
So he needs a protector and who would be better suited than an ex-Marine.
.
Dair agrees and so the two become a fake couple.
.
Safe Harbor is a slowly developing love story, with little fear, and lots of cute pets.
.
The secondary characters are, as always with HJ Welch, also very well written.
.
A wonderful book, as the start of a new series.
.
I'm looking forward to part two, there are so many characters whose storys I really want to know.

The struggle with Mac made me so mad.
I love the way it's ends.
