I loved the book.
Max a security professional is in charge of watching out for baudin who is supposed to testify against a man who has no scruples and has ordered lots of peoples death. See baudin is a hitman turning states narc.
Poor unsuspecting Lola, a kindergarten teacher always looking to help out her children, ends up in the middle of this mess just because she wanted free books for the kiddos.
She ends up crashing into Max's tree outside his home and max thinks she's come for baudin. Yes she carries a.357 but hey her brother's a cop, and she ends up compromising their safe home. On the go to make he gets baudin safely to court, Lola is stuck with them.
Max doesn't trust baudin but heads the advice given. Lola may seem to be somewhat naive but it makes her character even better.
An awesome read from Leslie, wouldn't have expected anything else. A must read in her safe house series.
Max Sterling’s job is protecting Adrien Baudin, an assassin for the mob, until he can testify against the mob boss. Everything is going fine until someone crashes a car into a tree right in front of the safe house where they are staying. Now he has to figure out if it is someone trying to get to his witness, or a real accident.
Lola Reyes is on her way to get some books for her first grade classroom from an Estate sale when she looks down to check the address again and crashes her car into a tree. The first thing she sees when she is conscious is a man walking toward her and her first thought is, “The doctor from Grey’s Anatomy. Sweet Ginger hottie, she was delusional. Concussed. Possibly dead. In heaven, yes, but dead.” (Direct quote)
I have to say, this book was just okay. There was some tension, a few chuckles and the ending left you a little teary eyed. There was also a little “steam” to it. Although, trying to get her to swear, was a little much!
The story itself, I’m not sure was believable, but it is fiction. Max is there to make sure Adrien stays safe, yet he leaves him alone for a whole day by himself?? Also, it says in the blurb about a criminal conspiracy involving Baudin so they have to go on the run, but they have to go on the run because Lola told her brother, who is a cop, she’d been kidnapped.
This is a quick read and a standalone with a HEA.
