Safer Brand Houseplant Sticky Stakes
Easily Save Your Houseplants from Infestations
Safer Brand Houseplant Sticky Stakes are a simple and convenient solution for flying insects that attack your houseplants. These easy-to-use stakes attract and trap flying insects from inside your potted plants, preventing damage and reproduction. Just peel apart the traps, insert them into the adjustable stakes, and place at the base of your plant to start trapping insects immediately. These stakes are great for whiteflies, fungus gnats, blackflies, thrips, fruit flies, midges and more.
All-Natural and Chemical-Free
Safer Brand Houseplant Sticky Stakes are not only effective and convenient, but they’re safe to use in and around your home as a great alternative to chemicals or poisons.
How They Work
- Stakes are placed directly into indoor and outdoor houseplants.
- The yellow color of the traps, as well as the glue, attracts flying insects from in your plants.
- Insects become trapped in the glue.
- Trapping adults reduces infestations and breaks the breeding cycle.
Trap Insects in Three Simple Steps
Assemble the Stakes
Mount the sticks to your preferred length, and peel apart the yellow traps to expose the glue. Attach the desired amount of traps onto the stakes, as shown above.
Insert into Potted Plants
Insert the stakes into the soil, and give your plant a shake to release hidden insects so they fly onto the trap(s).
Discard Traps When Full
After trapping the insects, simply remove the traps from the stakes, and wrap them in newspaper to discard them. Reuse the stakes when you wish to trap more insects.

These are green stakes with slots that you can put more than one piece of the sticky paper in. The sticky paper is *very* sticky so be careful handling it with touching your hands and definitely don't let it touch clothes. While these get rid of the majority of flying gnats, you still have to worry about the eggs and larva. You need to kill them at this source, which you can do by buying a powder, like the Safer Brand Caterpillar Killer with B.T. Garden Dust. I used this powder, along with these sticky traps and my fungus gnat problem is gone. Once I noticed nothing flying around for a month, I removed these yellow traps as they were no longer necessary and distracted from the beauty of my plants.
These traps will catch your flying insects, but you will need a powder to fix the problem at the source.
I only ended up using that for two days because it smelled disgusting, it was made from garlic and rosemary oils etc but it just smelled strongly of old garlic. I had to burn scented candles whenever I used it and it wasn't controlling the gnats anyhow unless I actually sprayed the gnats directly.
Finally I came to Amazon to buy another spray and saw these Sticky Stakes and decided to give them a try. One week later, these traps are disgustingly yet satisfyingly filled with gnats. I am still seeing them flying occasionally but have high hopes in another week or two they will be eradicated completely.
One trap accidently dropped off the stake and onto the soil. I left it there and discovered it was capturing all the lazy ones arrogantly wandering around on the soil, so now I have one on a stake and one on the soil in each houseplant.
See my gross gnat annihilation photo! Even worse, the pic shows one trap only. I have two each in the two pots the gnats originated in, one each in my orchid pots and one each in my other houseplants, and they are all covered with gnats.
At the same time as I purchased these stakes, I purchased an eco spray (Safe for indoor plants) from another Amazon seller. It hasn't even arrived yet, but when it does I may give a couple of sprays to each plant just to kill the stubborn ones, then will buy another pack of these traps for good measure.
If you have a fungus gnat problem, don't hesitate to buy these!! I can now breathe AND eat inside my own house confidently again!

I thought there is something that attracts the flies, but I was wrong.
There is no reason for them to just sit on the tape ..
