I'm really glad that I saw Saga perform live when they toured for their first album. They were creating a kind of interesting progressive music that was full of energy and creativity, and they were really fine musicians. After following their next two albums and being quite pleased with their direction, Saga began a shift into a more mainstream sound. The progressive edge they once had was gone. I haven't re-visited Saga until this DVD. This is quite a different band than I saw back in the early 80's. Sure we've all aged, and all things considered the lads from Canada still can manage to pump out some fairly decent sound at their ripe old ages. The performance is a bit uninspired and worst of all suffers from the most annoying aspect, and that is Mike Sadler's constant relinquishing of songs to the audience to fill in the good parts. It's not only self indulgent and egotistical but it's unfair to people that have paid good money to watch Saga perform. The song selection is pretty good and it's no coincidence that the majority of numbers are from the early albums. Here's to days long past.

I have been a fan of this band since the 80's and have always felt they've been drastically over looked!!! Much more popular in Europe which made the majority of their tours evolve overseas. I was lucky enough to see them in a club in Maine just after their World's Apart cd was released, never fortunate enough to see them again. This show covers a very wide range of their history and was filmed before an intimate crowd. Musically and vocally a terrific show, as they always have been. If you know of the band and can get your hands on this dvd, buy it, you won't be disappointed. "Contact" is also a terrific show caught on film and worth every penny!

It would be good if this came with a cd to listen to of it. Performances on this dvd are excellent. The band does look a little uptight at times and there are blank spots in between the songs but it's the live performance that carries this video all the way through.

This is a great live show featuring some great songs. Careful Where You Step opens the show in grand fashion. They also do songs from Full Circle which an ignoramus underrated on Amazon. They do Time Bomb and it rocks. I don't care what fools say-for my money, Saga is the best prog band out there. Fools criticize them because their musical vistas are limited by Weird Al ventures and metal bore fandangalos.

If you`re a fan of 80`s rock, than this is a must have for your collection. Toronto`s own "Saga" celebrating 25 years in style. The hits are all there and the group haven`t shown any aging in their sound or performance. This DVD rocks. Highly recommended you pick up a copy today.

Incredible to use a word to describe this concert, the band touring Bonn,Germany 2002 w/ then new,"House of Cards" album,a highpoint even by Saga's standards.Included are "new classics" such as hard rockers"Time Bomb","Remember When", & "The One".This stuff is heavy with some amazing tempo changes that Saga have become known for,Ian Crichton is such an criminally underrated guitarist,as the rest of the guys in making it look so effortless & obviously having fun ! Also musically some cool surprises, the resurrection of "A Brief Case",a drum duel between Mike Sadler & Steve Negus that's guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The inclusion of"See them Smile" & "Take it or Leave it" for us old fans as well.A different spin is put on "Time's Up",has the guys doing the tune minstrel style with Jim Gilmour on accordian & Ian Crichton on Mandolin-works really well ! Mike Sadler even straps on the bass for an excellent run through of my all time fav Saga tune"Humble Stance".A must have !

Saga on the loose - nichts vom Glanz verloren
Reviewed in Germany on November 26, 2004
1. Careful Where You Step
2. Compromise
3. The One
4. Wind Him Up
5. Remember When
6. No Regrets
7. The Runaway
8. Time Bomb
9. We'll Meet Again
10.A Brief Case
11.Don't Be Late
12.Time's Up
13.See Them Smile
14.Take It Or Leave It
15.Humble Stance
16.You're Not Alone
01. On the Loose
02. The Flyer
03. How Are You
04. Mouse in a Maze
05. Images
06. Don't Be Late
07. Tired World
08. No Stranger
09. Worlds Apart
10. Humble Stance
11. You're Not Alone
12. Wind Him Up
Plus:
"Rise and Shine" done acoustic at a radio station visit in Saarbrucken, Germany
"Marathon" Live at the Berns in Stockholm, Sweden
TV Performance of "On the Loose" and interview from San Juan, Puerto Rico
A photo gallery of the "Marathon Tour"
