First off, when I received the box, the pin in one of the hinges was out, so the top of the box was not connected to the bottom. Luckily the pin was inside my shipping box, though, so I just popped it right in. Not worth deducting points.
What IS worth deducting points, though (in my mind), is the fact that you can't stand certain teas upright if you want the box to close all the way. If you drink mainly Impra tea (or similar size), or don't mind putting the tea in their sideways or laying it down face-up, then you should be fine. If, however, you're like me and stand them upright (I have such a random assortment that I can't really lay them down and know what I have), then Ahmad, Stash, Greenfield, Bigelow, and other similarly-sized teas will be a problem.
Overall, I love this box. It's classy looking (people comment whenever I pull it out), holds a LOT of tea (right now I have about 100 tea bags and a bunch of mints in mine), and the hinge flips all the way open and holds the lid open completely flat (ever-so-slightly more than 180°). Eventually I may add some sort of rubber lip around the box and a lock to hold it airtight, but this box is almost exactly what I was looking for when I bought it. I do wish I could stand all my teas up, though, without having to bend the top portion of the tea bag down.
This item is not as well constructed as I had hoped. The interior bamboo, which creates the compartments for the teabag storage, is very "rough"--not sanded down, or whatever the equivalent might be for bamboo. The bamboo is very "sharp" as a result and I am very concerned that I will cut myself. I ordered this on Amazon Prime so that I could easily return it for free!--or so I thought! Amazon (or this seller? I'm not sure how that exactly works) is now charging me over $8.00 to return the item. Which I guess I will have to pay because I'm not keeping this piece of junk.
I'm really irritated with both the product and the return process. I will not recommend this product or seller to friends/family.
I Purchased Three Tea Storage Containers And Each Had Varying Degrees Of At Best, Mediocre Craftsmanship.
The Primary Issues Were The Lack Of Care Taken Where The Angles Of The Top Right And Left Side, Where The Wood Joints Were Not Properly Aligned.
Secondly, The Hinges Are Of Poor Quality, And Not Well Constructed When Inlayed With The Interior Wood. In Short, Do Not Stress The Hinges By Opening The Box and Allowing The Top Portion To Recline To Quickly Or To Far.
For, It Might Both You And The Product Might Become, Unhinged. LOL
Greater Accountability, And Attention To Detail Must Be Taken.
With That Said, In All Due Honesty I Purchased Three, Returned One Immediately, Bought A Very Small Screw Driver,And Attempted To Tighten The Hinges As Much As Possible.
Not Enough Time To Return All Three And I Was Desperate To Have Something Hold My Teas.
The Product Had Potential, At Least Now At Is Sold At A Reasonable Price, From $49.99 To It's Current Pricing At $15.99.
But, Until Someone At Saganizer Takes Responsibility For "Quality Control, Buyer Beware."
